Someone said this a few seasons back, so it can't be a spoiler... But their concern was, what if the walkers end up getting clapped early, and the last few eps is just the north vs south... instead of the reverse, where the night king would be the last big battle..........

Seeing the trailer, they really pushing that battle in the north... But according to the EW article, that's Episode 3........ I can't see them losing, then the night king going to king's landing after.... it's obvious that Cersei is going to be the final boss

This is actually how I felt. Initially always I envisioned everything settling up in the 2nd last Episoide (defeating the Night Gawd and Company,) and then us getting the big montage of how the 7 kingdoms move forward in the finale.

But over the last few years I really do think the North/South and everyone in between put in work to defeat the dead by EP3, and the next 3 will be against Cersei and gang.

Also sidebar but after seeing that brightened version of the trailer, looks like Ayra is running WITH others away from, I assume, the dead. Looks like it could have even been Tormund/Beric/Ed?

This was a big theme for stannis. Instead of worrying about fighting for the kingdom, the real ruler should be worried about saving the kingdom first. That's what davos told him to convince him to go to the wall. It's the right move, putting cersei second.

My hope is this other theory I saw that said the night king would send his army to fight winterfell and fly himself on the dead dragon to kings landing. It would fit the house of the undying vision of the Iron throne destroyed and covered in snow.
