I just brought this up with a few friends, but anyone ever think about the way time and repeat viewing creates "classics" and movies we think of as unimpeachable classics weren't always thought of as such?

The shining for one. The thing is another one. It’s early but those two are always my go tos off the top of my head. They were both reviled on release, didn’t make money, and were considered failures. Then a younger audience saw them on vhs on repeat and now they’re looked at as classics. Vertigo would be another one, and caddyshack.
Time is everything with art, especially film. And also finding the right audience. Or just more exposure. Those kids who grew up watching caddyshack on repeat then got to be in influential positions, either as filmmmakers or critics, and sang the praises of those movies so much that they were “re-evaluated” and now the status quo is what it is.

So I'm catching up on one day at a time since they moved to Pop TV and I hadn't watched the new season. In the first episode Ray Romano plays a census taker. This episode I think aired in April. Anyways he tells the family I'll see y'all in 10 years. Then says who am i kidding, in 10 years President Kardashian will do away with all this. Made me think of the recent claim from Kanye to be president and imagine if in 10 years he or Kim actually are. The accuracy of their prediction would be
