He holds records for the most successful defenses of world titles (27), most title fight victories (31), most title fights (37), and the second-most title defenses won by knockout (21, after Joe Louis with 23)

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya seems very willing to match Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) against IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) - if Canelo defeats WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Golovkin did his part by stopping David Lemieux in the eight round of their unification on Saturday night at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Golovkin-Lemieux was a final eliminator for a mandatory shot at the WBC championship. The World Boxing Council has already ordered the Cotto-Canelo winner to make their first defense against Golovkin.

Cotto-Golovkin might be a harder fight to make, should Cotto win, because he's not very interested in fighting at the full middleweight limit of 160-pounds. The fight with Canelo takes place at 155-pounds and his previous bout with Daniel Geale was fought at 157.

Team Golovkin have made it very clear that a fight with Cotto would only take place at the middleweight limit and they have no desire to do a catch-weight.

Canelo has sparred with Golovkin in the past and wants to fight him in the near future.

De La Hoya, who also promotes Lemieux, says a fight between Canelo and Golovkin is inevitable.

"Why not [do Canelo-Golovkin]? That's a fight that should be made. Why not? Eventually it should be made. I have no reason not to make it. Canelo wants to fight him," De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com. "A fight between Canelo and Golovkin - it has to happen, no reason for it not to."

Of course for those of us wanting GGG unification (@patscorpio), this is good news. But is Canelo willing to fight GGG next? Technically Canelo will be mandated to fight GGG next (if he beats Cotto) and wants to defend the title. GGG already took step aside money so the WBC would enforce his mandatory ranking.
Technically GGG also doesn't have to concede any weight (since it is a mandatory title defense). They only way is if Canelo threatened to not make the fight or conceded money to GGG to buy a catchweight.

@Newzz, Canelo needs to win in November, since I doubt Cotto wants to fight #GGGoodBoys. We know Canelo isn't scared. Hope he is willing to fight in 2016. That would be a great event. :wow:

Leading up to the bout, Haugen made the comment that many of Chavez’s wins "came against Tijuana taxi drivers that my mom could whip." This generated a huge uproar in the Mexican community and ignited publicity for the bout. After the loss to Chávez, a dominant TKO loss, Haugen stated: "They must have been very tough taxi drivers."

Detroit You bytch Ass nikka
GGG has punching power like a mothafukka, but he is not an extremely impressive fighter imo. He is slow handed and slow footed. Floyd would school him, unless he gets caught of course.

I would love to see GGG vs a nikka like Thurman though. Thurman athleticism would cause problems for GGG. It would be a good fight.

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
Of course. ..yall both GGG stans. It plays right into the #SSShookBoys manual:yeshrug:

By cosigning it, yall both telling me you didn't enjoy Floyd's dominant victory over Pacquiao (in which Floyd threw 70 less punches than Broner did vs Molina)...which is CRAZY for a hardcore fan of boxing to say that:wow:

And once again another fight, Floyd was hit LESS by an ATG in Moses Pacquiao over 12 full rounds than Little G was in 8 by Lemieux:dead:

But that's "exciting" to see a fighter take more punishment than the next and Floyd was boring because he effectively neutralized his opponents offense:mjlol:

Maybe Floyd should've "let" Pacquiao hit him to make it exciting for yall:heh:

So now we're comparing a one sided boring non competitive asswhooping AB/Molina to a competitive 8-4 arguably 7-5 fight between Pac/Floyd where multiple rounds could go either way?? Are you serious my nikka :what:
