I really hope this movie wins some awards that matter.
For all the fukkers saying this is not an award winning movie why the fukk not?
fukken Green book won last year and I don't even what the fukk won the year before.
Eddie really deserves his due.
Wesley really deserves his due too (he stole every scene he was in).
The whole cast did their thing.
That said, the industry really doesn't like Netflix, they just don't want it to succeed.

I think anyone saying it’s not an award movie doesn’t understand how that shyt works. Any movie can be an award movie with the right amount of studio muscle behind it. If Netflix has the cash, they should campaign the hell out of it. But they’re also going to campaign the hell out of the Irishman too, if not more, because it’s the more expensive movie and they want the street cred to say to other directors “We aren’t cheap and we can get you an Oscar”
It’s all about the campaign and how it sways voters.

I wouldn't expect too much come awards season, if only because I fully expect some media outlet to drop a hit piece in a month or two about Eddie Murphy not featuring Rudy Ray Moore's rumored homosexuality in the film, causing a faux pas outrage about supposed homophobia that they will tie into Eddie's old stand-up shows featuring jokes about homosexuality (that he has already started apologizing for) effectively killing his Oscar chances.
seems plausible, might do this around his come back for stand up though.
