I Don't know about that breh. Pikachu and Godzilla both got a large fanbase And the trailers for both have been really awesome
Pikachu I can see. Godzilla...eh. Will be interesting to see though. I think they should have held Aladdin off for the Fall/Winter to not get lost in the Avengers/Lion King/Toy story pandemonium but I still think Aladdin will make bank.

They probably pushed for May because kids are out of school during this time

Depends on y'all definition of bomb. Aladdin isn't bombing. And it will certainly make more than Pikachu and Godzilla.

What will hurt it a bit is Lion King and Toy Story also coming out this summer too. Idk why Disney pushed 3 big franchises in three shorts months on us but I ain't complaining :blessed:
Bomb in comparison to the other Disney remakes. I should have clarified. It's going to do closer to Dumbo than The Jungle Book, and Lion King is going to shyt all over it.

It'll make money, but with Endgame sucking all the oxygen out of the room for the next month probably and the movie having had a lackluster reception so far, I don't see it breaking out. Unless, again, critical reception and word of mouth end up a lot been than the material released thus far has led us to believe.

Even if we look at Disney's marketing of it, it feels more like what they did with Mary Poppins Returns than the way they normally roll out the red carpet for these things. As in their attitude is "We expect this to do well, but there's too much competition around it and we know it's not standing out."

I don’t think this movie does less than 600mil. Now it’s up to you guys to call it a hit or flop.

Overseas alone will bring in 300-400 mil. I predict 100 mil in US and total 275 mil opening weekend.

I'm sure they gonna push Will Smith everywhere in a few weeks though. His star power should still be enough to help draw attention to it.

They have to battle with the groupthink approach social media takes though that as soon as they see something that doesn't blow them away, they trash it (Will's Genie look, Sonic movie, etc.)

But yes, it won't do Lion King or Beauty and the Beast numbers, but I expect it to do significantly better than Dumbo and Mary Poppins.

I dunno......Disney should have never released all these big budget films in 2019 alone. They could have waited until 2020 for a few of them.

I actually think Pokemon is gonna bank more then aladdin. Could be wrong but i really think it has a chance. The movie looks really good and pokemon is pokemon.

Plus aladdin is being sandwiched between it's own competition. Lion King and Toy Story 4 are gonna murder it.

Don't know why Disney is going so ham this year. Aladdin and Dumbo could of been saved for Disney+ exclusives and they could of spread out Lion King Toy Story 4 Frozen 2 and Starwars.

Either way im there! :wow:

There are already industry insiders lining Pokemon up for a 40 mil debut, but optimists think it can be as high as 75
Warner Bros. Box Office Expectations for Pokemon Detective Pikachu Revealed! - Bounding Into Comics

Meanwhile Aladdin is projected for 70-90 mil
Box Office: Disney And Will Smith's 'Aladdin' Tracking As High As $90 Million Over Memorial Day

I think yall underestimating the Disney brand and Aladdin's popularity. On a holiday weekend, many more families gonna be inclined to go out and see the Disney film then families are going to be inclined this weekend to go see Pokemon. Pokemon has a great fan base, but it's not going to defeat the Disney brand + a classic Disney character.
