This is a great lil play on that Basilisk mind experiment. Those who saw the future where not only influenced by it but became slaves to it, except Lily. Everyone had an overinflated ego or faith in technology. They also had nothing else going on in their lives.
Two of those Devs staffers were struck with revulsion after seeing just a few seconds of themselves. They probably never looked into the future again.
Lily was the only future watcher of the cast able to make a choice. The future upset her, unlike the other main cast, and she saw to defy but not follow it. That broke the system. Deus was predicting how those few ppl would react to seeing their own futures.
