here's my thing about balancing:

if something is truly over/underpowered, it should be addressed....but in most cases, that's not what's happening....people are only complaining cause they keep getting killed and they think they shouldnt be....their ego feels they are better than others, and the fact they dying must mean the weapon the other person is using is overpowered, not cause they just happen to be better at that sec...and devs tend to listen to that vocal minority too much, and fukk up the game's fun....

*disclaimer - i'm not saying this is what yall are doing, those are just my general thoughts about 'balancing' in pvp games*

I was going off with every weapon but let me tell you about that AR, friends. Especially that one with 23-26 bullet clips...The strength of it plus a throwing knife bailed me out of 2/3v1's NUMEROUS times.
Word. That was pretty much the most glaring issue of the pvp to me.

besides hand cannons, ARs were the only primary weapon type...you had burst, semi, and full, but they were all ARs....so more than likely you were gonna bring an AR into pvp, but that didnt make them overpowered....all 3 handled differently and gave different results...

i know shotguns were secondary weapons, but that's just the classification...the shotties killed just as good if not better than the ARs in pvp...hell, the sniper rifles, the other secondary weapon were a beast in pvp....they were mostly 1 hit kills with headshots....

....i think yall confusing how the guns handled in the sp vs mp....in the sp, a lot of the weapons were powerful as shyt...but once you got in mp and they did that balancing shyt to everything, a lot of the guns werent as powerful as the sp....i know i had a different main gun for both....
I'm going to separate primary from secondary because you'd always have ammo for the primary. Bungie treats them like a separate weapon class in the way that they can easily provide you with one hit kills so I'll do the same. :yeshrug:


Pulse rifles simply didn't have the damage output to keep up with ARs and Semis. The accuracy was weird for them too. It had all the qualities of the Semi and AR but the strengths of neither. ARs simply laid down sustained damage that wasn't necessarily hindered at all by poor aim due to the rather forgiving auto-aim functions that the Semi couldn't. So yeah, the skill level required to put in work with the AR was significantly lower. You didn't need to master headshots like you did with the Semi (And the Handcannon was a complete joke in this regard. Even with headshots, the HC was slow - and if you did kill someone with it, your clip was gone before you knew it).

The damage evens out in mulitplayer due to the balancing but that doesn't have anything to do with how the weapons actually handle and how practical they are. There was never a situation where having the AR was the 'wrong' choice. Meanwhile, every other weapon had a serious drawback. That's what made it stronger than every other weapon type by far. Especially so if that AR happened to have the mod that would reduce RoF for increased accuracy and stability.

upping this cause the game has gone gold and discs are being printed.....other quick notes from bungie:

- said as soon as it's sept 9 somewhere in the world, they turning the servers on

- they dont understand why people worried about the size of the game...said it's the biggest game they've ever done...

- there will only be 1 interceptor on the moon level at launch

- it's gonna take longer to get some of the shyt we got in the alpha/beta....they said they gave us access just to test it out...

- they tuned some shyt based off the beta including weapon balance for the pvp part (the hand cannon got a boost already)....other shyt that got tuned was areas of exploring and how people communicate/hook up in game...

...anyway, fukk what they talking about in that other thread, i cant wait to play this shyt....first thing i'm do in explore mood is go fukk up that captain and orge that had question marks over they heads...those 2 muthafukkas killed me a couple times and i couldnt get payback...now i can, they asses are mine...

Good thing I live near Australia :myman:

now that damn knife is overpowered lol...run around a corner and gettting told viturally to 'hold that' when you get hit with it was a bytch lol....but even then, i'm cool with that....cause hunters couldnt take shyt...

i wasnt trying to put the classes together, was just pointing out how the secondary weapons were just as, if not more deadly than the primary....also, getting ammo for the weapons wasnt hard, there was always ammo boxes around with it...but we can move on from that...

i disagree about the pulse being weak...that weapon puts in work in the mp...you could take down people in 2-3 bursts...yea, you had to aim more, but when you did and hit, it did the job....just like the other ARs...and all of them had their pros/cons in the mp, none were head and shoulders better than any other ones....yea, the handcannon sucked unless you were an aiming muthafukka, but they've already said they boosted that....

yes, the weapons handle differently, but none of them were that much better than the others....there were enough weapons with perks to find 1 that fit your play style and you could go to work....again: the only 2 primary types were ARs and handcannons, so of course it was better to have an AR....but the different types of ARs all had pros/cons, nothing was that much better than something else...that's why i dont understand yall saying they were overpowered...

It's taking forever for me to pay off my destiny bundle. I still have $250 to go. I've been saving up for a TV as well so that I can cop both on the same day. TV is all saved up already.
