The Earthquake episode was straight ass. Basically a wrestler who was popular in his heyday but fell off when he got old and then later died :childplease:
They've run out of "dark" stories to tell, now it's basically mini-documentaries on troubled former wrestlers.
The entire Bagwell episode was already told on DDP's yoga youtube channel.

& a lot more
But again, who can you get? It doesn't hurt asking, but after the specific episode, n-gga's been avoiding them like the plague.

Murder, suicide (including unintentional like overdose on illegal drugs), and death during and from a match are always “good” options. Particularly murder, which seems to be far more prevalent in Mexican wrestling. I mean like almost everyone on the below list that was murdered was Mexican.

And those subjects comprise almost everything on my below list
  • Misawa
  • Shibata - if for nothing else them covering Dave Meltzer saying his brain was temporarily emoved from his head lol
  • Daffney
  • Hana Kimura
  • ROH Rob Feinstein being a pedo
  • All the Speaking Out fallouts
  • The Eugene gimmick
  • You could get a whole season out of Vince’s sexual predator stuff
  • Reid Flair
  • Louie Spicolli
  • Art Barr
  • Sara Lee
  • Larry Sweeney
  • Crash Holly
  • La Parkita
  • Umaga
  • Villano II
  • Rick Rude
  • Mike Awesome
  • Curt Hennig
  • Chyna
  • Luna Vachon
  • Sherri Martel
  • Ricky Lawless
  • Buzz Sawyer
  • Espectrito II
  • El Hijo de Cien Caras
  • Perro Aguayo Jr
  • Jim Hady
  • Doctor X
  • Chris Adams
  • La Fierra
  • Silver King
  • La Parka II
  • Eddie Graham

Some more infamous ones in New Japan

Maeda shoot kicked golden boy Riki Chosu in the face and immediately left to form the UWF

Inoki exposing wrestlers by putting them in shoot fights

Inoki embezzled money to fund a bio-fuel company

New Japan’s ties with the Yakuza

Inoki ordered Ogawa to shoot on Hashimoto, arguably the biggest draw in the company at the time, at the biggest show of the year and it effectively killed Hashimoto’s career

A student died in the dojo in 1995

Japan in general is a very unexplored goldmine - more below. And Japan probably doesn’t even come close to batshyt insane stuff that has happened in Mexico, because Meixco is running up the score on the murder leaderboard. They could easily devote multiple seasons to covering nothing but Japan and Mexico
  • The fall of the Joshis in the 2000s
  • The Act-Yoskiko incident but good luck getting anyone involved to talk about it. Act was a rising star in Stardom and Yoshiko broke her cheek bone, several facial bones, her nose, her orbital bone, and gave her a concussion. It’s considered by many to be the worst shoot incident in wrestling -
  • Founding of NOAH - Misawa took 24 of All Japan’s 26 wrestlers to form the company
  • Io Shirai weed planting story
  • Stardom’s past history of basically treating all their talent like softcore pornstars
  • NOAH’s connection to the Yakuza - hell just do an episode or two on the Yakuza because their connection with Japanese wrestling is widespread
  • Dragon Gate’s minkey abuse/torture scandal
  • Assault of Nobukazu Hirai - beaten into a coma in the locker room
  • Kensuke Sasaki allegedly murdered Hiromitsu Gompei in the New Japan dojo
  • The Great Sasuke shooting on The Dirt Bike Kid
  • Tiger Mask wrote a whole ass book in 1985 exposing the business and in Japan kayfabe is still to this day taken pretty seriously
  • Promoter for FMW committed suicide to avoid the violent consequences of failing to repay debt to the Yakuza
  • GAEA Girls dojo - training was shoot fighting and teenage girls were often getting straight up assaulted by grown ass women that were trainers. There was also widespread humiliation at the dojo
  • I mentioned Maeda before but he has a long history of shooting on people in matches
  • Giant Ochiai allegedly murdered in the World Japan Dojo by Kenzo Suzuki
  • Tanahashi’s girlfriend attempted to murder him
  • Onita used government accommodations to host a threesome with a pornstar and a government employee that forced his exit from politics

An American one I forgot about - CHIKARA, one of the more popular indies during the golden age of the indies, got shutdown by Speaking Out accusations.

Series might be on their last legs with no one really opting in since the Plane Ride from Hell episode, not to mention A&E's WWE docs have taken the juice from DSOTR despite it only being about WWF/E

Retired wrestlers love to talk and wax poetic about the past, get paid, write tell all books etc.

Most shoots on YouTube cross more lines than the plane ride from hell episode. As the saying goes telegram telephone tell a wrestler.

Maybe a few are like nah I’m good and keeping their nose clean but most are happy to talk. I don’t see that changing.
