While it makes logical sense, CONMEBOL and it's countries don't want the merger to happen for a few reasons...

They like it the way it is...

They don't want the Caribbean nations in COMNEBOL; they would have to have their own confederation.

The US & Mexico would run the shyt; Brazil, Argentina, etc would lose power.

It makes sense though because the Latin Central American countries should be in COMNEBOL.
