Not giving up on it, but this is where I wish Eddie just directed it himself. Or hired another up and coming black director.
I know it was John Landis who did the original, but he brought a level of believability to it. Eddie really made it seem so with Harlem Nights.
I hope they arent trying to be "too silly"
I don't think the problem is who is or isn't directing. I think it's more about the whole "let's all jump in this and have fun!" problem.
Sometimes you just need a good story, and keep the cast limited to who you need, not just who you want to hang with for a few weeks.
That's how you end up with scenes where 6 people are all trying to have their "moment" and it turns into a series of SNL sketches stitched together.
