I respect your opinion, but I have to say that after reading that A- isn't exactly what I would've guessed you rated it. The article was well thought out, but I have to agree that the grammar was off on many parts. Overall I thought you conveyed your opinion well, although I don't know if I'll agree in the end. I gave this two listens while in a zombie mind state 3/4 asleep and it was strange as fukk to me. I'm getting a better grasp on my fully awake half album listen so far and will say I don't think it's terrible, but I'll be damned if it doesn't seem all over the place at times. Rick Rubin actually toned it DOWN and simplified it some? I don't even want to imagine what the hell it sounded like before his influence. And I will say you're 100% right about him not being a wordsmith as some of the lyrics are pretty bad with a few expected cringeworthy Kanye moments where he overemphasizes a lyric he thought was clever that comes off corny as hell.
There's no way you can give this album a good review if you grade him as a rapper. Giving it an A- is definitely a declaration of this being considered something very far from a good rap album, and for me to get any enjoyment out of it I definitely have to view it the same way.
