I’ve ridden it a few times, definitely narrow but it’s way better than the bs we had before. I still don’t know why they didn’t just do a bike like on each side of the bridge.
I have respected cyclists in the past because by reading about the demands of their races and watching tours on tv, I could tell it was difficult.
But now that I have my first bicycle since I was a kid, I really feel the difficulty. Because I’m an old head and not in the best shape. And while my town has a ton of hills, it’s not 1500 meter climbs.
I was out for almost 2 hours and even with walking some parts, I still averaged a 149 heart rate. I was fukkin dying out there.
Those of you who been cycling for a while, much respect. For real.
So I been in my new house for just over a year but I know I still had so much exploring to do, I just been riding my 3 or 4 routes that I know that will let me get my distance in a giant loop. There are a lot of pro cycling teams around here which I always see but I never really know the routes they take
So I knew there is a big body of water near me so I just went in that general direction to try and find it, I uncovered Narnia on the way
Excuse pic quality, main phone was tracking my ride and I aint wanna keep pulling it off the mount
So I came across this field with a shyt ton of horses the one on the right was so fukking big I was playing out in my mind how it would go if I had to fight it, obviously I won his girl was on lock, he moved one square to the right, she moved in sync was wild
Next to the horses there was a cycle highway about 40% built, but was already a mile long, these folk got money to burn
Then the road kinda just ended and I was in the woods for a while
Then all of a sudden, I'm at the water, 15 mins from my house , it was actually a sports facility.
There were people kayaking and there was a sailing club just next to it, the water went on forever
Got busy in the early afternoon, joggers, people walking dogs, cyclists etc.
One old guy pulled up in his Porsche looking real frail till he pulled out and assembled his bike, took off like the flash
Anybody here knowledgeable about wheels?
I have a checkpoint and I want to get another wheelset for road riding. my LBS gave me 3 quotes from $500-1000 range.
I have all the stats and all that but honestly it don't mean anything to me outside of weight. actually the cheapest set is the lightest
these are two of the sets :
From seasoned pros and weekend warriors, to kids and commuters—if you ride, we’re for you. We believe bikes have the power to change lives. This simple truth drives us to be—and do—better.

These are like the budget wheels, the carbon ones they tried to show me at first are like $1000+ EACH
any tips or recommendations?
A good alternative is Chinese carbon wheels that are made in the same factory as the other big brands(Hunt, Winspace, Elitewheels). I put on some carbon ICAN 650b wheels on my gravel bike for about $700. best upgrade I've ever made. Dropped a good amount of weight and changed the overall handling, climbing ability and speed of the bike for the better. I know almost all of those Chinese carbon wheels are punching above their weight in terms of cost and performance. The Winspace wheels rival the $2000+ wheel sets at $1200 and the Hunt/Ican/Elite wheels are comparable to $1000+ wheel sets and all are UCI approved wheels so you're not getting bullshyt. I personally wouldn't pay less than $600-700

Thanks for the reply. I didn't consider chinese wheels and know the LBS ain't about to recommend them .
I'll keep that in mind though going forward. I ended up getting a wheelset on order over the weekend. Found a near by 50+ mile paved trail so hopefully they'll be in and I can do a test by next week out there. I'm really interested in seeing how much of a difference the wheels make. My power is "aight" and people who look washed be passing me with ease sometimes

Wheels make the biggest difference in acceleration and speed when it comes to equipment. Going lighter on your "hoop", for lack of a better term, decreases the outer rotational mass and makes it much easier to pedal. The closer you move the weight savings to the center hub the less of a difference you'll feel.
I change my handlebar tape a few times a year out of boredom and always use this picture as a guide
Always start from the bottom and the direction going outwards. Right clockwise, left counter clockwise, otherwise the tape will go on so that it unravels as you ride.
