This Touya arc is boring as hell

any time you give a labeled abusive/scummy character 'reasons' like someone else suddenly being more fukked up then they are - its a walk back
Man, Toya was failed by both his parents. He wasn't even insane just completely broken. He knew that he was not a child he was a creation. Then when Endeavor considered him a failure he basically lost all meaning to his existence. Doesn't help that hypocritical ass Endeavor kept unloading the clip and getting more babies until golden child Shoto was born.
Think about how hypocritical it is to tell Toya "forget about being a hero, that shyt doesn't matter anymore", when he's actively having more children and it's clear he's looking for signs of half hot/half cold.
Then child Fuyumi is acting like she doesn't see or hear shyt, as if Toya is living in his own world and his complaints are baseless.
Rei attacking Toya by asking if he even wants to become a hero is probably one of the last straws Toya had. In his mind he is a creation, saying that is like double speak. Being a hero is his only outlet for existing, so to ask him that is like trying to deny him his existence.

maybe that's the problem i'm seeing across the board then - mixed signals
i always thought he was dirt because that's how he's portrayed as early as the sports festival arc. all this extra characterization for a guy that isn't even crucial to the story always seemed like another sign the author was spinning wheels. he was shyt from the jump and labeled clearly ages ago. all this spotlight on him to find some endearment doesn't make sense when he still comes back to being a piece of shyt.

like vegeta he came to earth killed people beat up a kid and slowly changed his ways
