Na
Oh wow

RIP
Twice

I dont think anyone saw that coming

I'm loving this arc

The school setting is the weakest part of this manga

I hope they get rid of it soon

Bakugo is an a$$hole who wants to be the best. He’s pretty much a hyper-charged version of Naruto/Sasuke. Naruto’s loud, annoying ass personality and desire to be legendary but Sasuke’s natural talent but a$$hole nature.

He does get fleshed out and grow a LOT more but change is gradual on MHA. The seeds of Bakugo’s growth (As a person) get planted early but it takes time to see the growth actually start to manifest itself.

But I’ll tell you that Bakugo becomes of one of my favorite characters in the show.

after he failed the exam was supposed to be the start of his growth. I’m actually glad they did that. He was acting more like a villain than a hero

He has a reason to act this way. They briefly explain it in the manga but in their qirks = a persons value. Ppl have told Bakugou hes the shyt since he was a toddler so he has an inferior complex. Whenever he fails to succed at something, he gets reasonably frustrated in himself.

Deku has always been Bakugous inferior/dikk rider...so when it turns out Deku has a quirk likes All mights, Bakus idol, he feels betrayed. Like Deku was laffing behind his back.....dikkriding to leech off his popularity like every other "friend% growing up. Inthe tournament arc Baku starts to see that quirks do not make the hero, the person does. You'll see this attitude in one of his fights where he takes his opponent seriously despite them being noticeably weaker.

Later on Baku has a breakdown because he feels responsible for something "harming" All Might and he literally cries like a child.

Tl;dr Baku is a product of an elitist society who believes hes playing his part. Hes slowly starting to see that isnt the way the world works. I hated to this fukkboi too until i understood his character act. Hes Saskue done right ala Vegeta shyt:yeshrug:

naw. That’s what annoyed me about deku. They were trying to make him vegeta but his motive For being an a$$hole did not exist. Vegeta legit was a prince and wanted to be the best. Goku was a legit cornball and vegeta didn’t respect him being a sayian and being so corny. Vegeta our in work before he ever met goku, he had every right to think he was the GOAT.

Bakago is just angry for no damn reason he hated deku before he ever had powers and all deku did was praise him.

Bakugo has put in loads of work too and has had praised heaped on him ever since he was a child but, most importantly, his belief was that being a hero meant that you never needed help or showed weakness. All Bakugo wants is to be the best and it’s beat into our head how naturally talented and intelligent he is, from the first season.

He thought being weak meant you couldn’t be a true hero because he straight up has issues with connecting and empathizing with people. He hated Deku because Deku was weak but also he thought that Deku trying to empathize with him was actually him looking down upon him.

It’s a character flaw but one that makes sense. Bakugo’s growth is him learning to empathize or connect with others while seeing the value in strength that isn’t just “how hard you can beat people up”.

-He understands looking at the bigger picture of the job, teamwork, and how his rage blinds him when losing to Deku.

-He learns that there are other individuals who are just asnaturally talented than he is from Todoroki which breaks his superiority complex.

-You see him slowly start to respect and connect with others during the Sports festival which plants the keys to his friendship with Kirishima which leads to his big moment in season 3 where he willingly accepted help.

But Bakugo is definitely Vegeta-esque and most of the stuff you said about Vegeta is applicable to Bakugo.

Edit:

Also, Bakugo and Deku were friends when they were younger and bonded over their mutual love for All Might. The fall off didn’t happen until Deku tried to help Bakugo which Bakugo mistook for pity.

Bakugo’s biggest character flaw is that he’s an emotional kid that doesn’t really know to accept or process his emotions in a healthy way. It’s why the stuff like him crying in front of Deku about his guilt over being the reason All Might gave up his powers for him or paying for Kirishima’s lost video camera were such huge signs of growth for his character.

You see why he’s like that when you see his home life because Mom is similar in that she might care about you more than anything but she’s just aggressive.

Yea but like you said Vegeta and Goku didn’t grow up friends, and in fact they were enemies, and the ONLY reason he is cool with Goku is because he cant beat him.. His obsession with beating him is what keeps him close, on this show, dude is overly angry and from the flashbacks he was never cool with Deku from day one. My thing is why have some much hate for someone who at that time wasn’t no where near your level? Even the thought of Deku applying the UA pissed him off, it was too extreme..

Now they are starting to flesh it out but in the beginning it was ridiculous.. But at the end of the day fukk them both.. Deku is a Whitney bytch and bakugo is an out of control hating ass bitter clown. Neither are like able I’d rather his rival be Todoroki,

They were shown as friends when they were toddlers and meeting over their love of All Might. He didn’t hate him day one.

Bakugo disliked Deku despite not being on his level because Bakugo associates having powerful quirks with being a good hero. Bakugo was constantly praised for having a great quirk and has his entire self-esteem based off his quirk superiority.

Bakugo then perceived like Deku was screwing with him (Popping up with a quirk when he’s acted quirkless his whole life), slighting him (Copying his movements when using Full Cowl) and getting extra-chummy with his childhood idol in a way that he can’t comprehend. Deku starts screwing with his superiority complex and Bakugo doesn’t understand that having absolute strength doesn’t make you the best hero.

But Bakugo became way more likable to me after he got kidnapped by the league and after he showed props to Urakaka.

But Bakugo telling the league to screw themselves and showing that he had the soul of a true hero despite being such an aggressive jerk (Subverting the Sasuke-power driven stereotype he was showing) was important to his character.

Bakugo, more than anything, wants to be the best hero he can be like All Might and every arc he’s had so far, he shows legitimate character growth.
