Valid concerns for a problem Coates believes there in the mythos that weren't even things.

Coates had to turn wakanda into a 3rd world shythole with rape camps and shyt to make his story work.

I've been reading a notable amount of folks using the 3rd world stuff to describe Coates' Wakanda and to be honest, I don't see it.

The Golden City looks as advanced and grandiose as it usually is. And the Priest and Hudlin runs have already established that outside of the main cities of Wakanda, the rest of the country is rather rural and somewhat old fashioned. That so far hasn't changed in this current run.

It also can't be cuz of the terrorist attacks as many developed nations--especially in modern history--have been victims of terrorist attacks as well.

I'm not a fan of some of the notable decisions Coates has made for the run (the rape camps for example). However, Coates' Wakanda isn't 3rd world. Going through turmoil? Yes. Third world status? No, based on what I've seen so far.

Depends on how (and why, in-story) it's done. If done right, there won't be much of an issue. Problem is, a lot can go wrong. So why risk it?

I think the MCU will continue how they've done with previous movies, as @doublex showed.

They shouldn't look uniform to everyone else in the MCU. That would be a big mistake IMO.

They can show skin without coming off as gratuitous.

The thing with how the Doras may be dressed goes hand in hand with the new era that we're in.

There's been a shift in how women are drawn in comics, period, at marvel. Heavily scaled down on the objectification that's been common practice for decades. Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, etc.. 'practical' costume changes, which means more often covered up and breast reduction surgery for all, or in their solo books at least.

The audience being targeted for these female characters is no longer the guys looking for T&A cosplay wish fulfillment, it's women... and they're trying to avoid any problems with ruffling feathers. This change will carry over to the Doras as well, and already has in the books. Now i wouldn't be a fan of them spinning it as some wakandan-male-dominant-sexist thing in-story as to why they sometimes dressed scantily clad, b/c that was just a comic industry thing. No different than Cap Marvel fighting crime in a black baywatch suit that had her cheeks out for the better part of 2 decades.

Also, remember, when Christopher Priest first introduced the Doras, Nakia and Okoye dressed like this.

Paint the dress black and that has similarities to how the Dora in CA:CW dressed when escorting T'Challa to a similar car. But while still physically stunning, they opted to make her more fierce than sensual with cleavage popping out. So i expect a similar carry-over to their combat gear where it'll look stunning and culturally distinct but likely covered up.

I think you're underestimating how much women enjoy looking at other women (in a non sexual manner). Search Teyana Taylor from Kanye's Fade music video and you will see just as many women admirers as males (if not more) raving about her body. And seeing curvy fit black women on the movie screen isn't really very common. It will be seen as a positive. So long as the Dora's sex appeal are presented as classy and natura, there won't be any feminist backlash.

I agree that most women would enjoy it if the Dora wore sexy costumes, but I think Marvel is too scared of a small but vocal minority of parents, religious people, and conservative moviegoers in general who might take exception.

I think there's a happy medium to be found, though: Legs but no cleavage, stomach but no legs, etc.

I'm just hoping they don't stick them all in catsuits and call it a day. And I'm hoping for something more creative than they had Kasumba wearing in Civil War.

I think the audience can accept the Doras having a bit less clothing while they are training for example.

Where I think they'll be covered up is when they are on the field, whether it be Nakia and Okoye with T'Challa during his mission or the Doras as a unit making moves before, during, and after a battle. Their outfits may have some sex appeal and hopefully will be culturally distinctive, but they most likely will be covered up to the degree we've seen in the MCU. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Also, let's remember, they are warriors. There has to be some practicality in how they dress. Nakia and Okoye may dress in a way that helps them blend in without drawing too much attention, being that they most likely will be T'Challa often. The Doras as a unit will probably be seen when it's time for battle, thus they will be dressed appropriately for that.

Oh im aware, but peep what i said about marvel trying to avoid ruffling any feathers or what @doublex just added. Marvel isn't Kanye. lol

To make sure they dont tick yall off, theyve gone in the extreme opposite direction imo (tho thats subjective, bc some would say its just fine), for better or worse. Carol Danvers went from lookin like a blonde version of kim k in a one piece, to looking like steve rogers lil brother in her own book.

Edit- Not to mention the oversexualization of black women in the media has been a problem, so there is a balance in depiction there. Which is why i wouldnt be surprised if theyre combat gear has them more covered up but with some form fitting aspects

The Doras in the MCU are a unit so there will be some uniformity. Thing is, Nakia and Okoye being in the film makes sure we get distinct personalities from two Doras, as well as different outfits: they will be traveling with T'Challa so they'll have to dress differently than the rest of the Doras, if only to blend in and not draw too much attention to themselves.

As for the outfits, depends on how it's done. I don't think the third scan will fly in the MCU. The first two could work with adjustments here and there.

On top of all that, Marvel is owned by Disney. I'm sure Marvel keeps Disney in mind when it comes to such outfits in MCU theatrical releases.

EDIT: I actually like Carol's current outfit a lot. An improvement from the previous one, which I felt was kinda tacky. Just my opinion though.
