i can respect saying fukk the debt and the deficit, but "dead wrong" :comeon: gimme a break, bernie

i guess this means the fed doesnt need my little few hundred bucks every two weeks then?

I can't stand Bernie but he is 100% right. The idea that Biden is going to walk into office and self impose austerity because Trump "left the cupboard bear" is straight up bullshyt. That's "I want to be a one term president" talk. Kaufman needs to shut the fukk up. The only way out of this economic disaster is massive spending. A huge COVID relief bill, a huge infrastructure bill, etc. And if Biden is serious about the public option and child care, that's going to cost money too. After watching Trump and republicans ignore the deficit for 4 years...the idea that Biden will become the deficit champion is laughable. fukk that.

Get the economy started again and raise taxes. Those two things alone will do more to lower long term deficits than any bullshyt austerity measures.

Breh I work in finance...fed money isn't real. State money? Yea, deficits are bad. Fed? Go crazy. I'm not saying we need to pass trillion dollar bills every quarter because money isn't real...I'm saying Biden should have ZERO focus on the deficit in 2021 and 2022. The only goal should be doing whatever needs to be done to revive the economy. A stable economy and increased taxes will resolve everything. And frankly...a large cut in military spending. Trump's military spending is laughable.

Everyone knows it needs to be done but most of the American public thinks military spending=national security. How do you message that without falling into the normal Republican "Democrats weak, Republicans strong" spiral which inevitably will turn into their 2024 message?

True. We'll see. I'm not calling for a 50% cut or anything drastic...even though that's what I want. But given how ridiculous military spending is right now, a 100-200b cut? Do it. The 2019-2020 military spending budget is 720b...

they dont need to cut it, they just need to not raise it. tell them they're getting the same amount as last year and they need to cut waste. none of these chicken hawk republicans could actually argue with that
