The only thing I feel confident about with respect to future elections is that we aren't going back to the days of Romney/McCain/Dole/HW Bush republican nominees. Ben Sasse, Nikki Haley, and all these other "normal" republicans are finished. All that matters is who can win enough of Trump's base to win the republican nomination. After that, can any republican win the presidency? Sure. All it takes is a slim win in MI/PA/WI/etc, and demographics are trending their way. I don't think AZ and GA will be reliable blue states in the near term...they're purple states that will flip back and forth depending on the candidate.

But does Ted Cruz have the ability to win that type of race? Tom Cotton? Mike Pence? I doubt it.
This year was a census year and in both GA and AZ they have Republican control of the governorship and legislature which means be prepared to see more voter suppression tactics and alot more gerrymandering. I expect 2024 to be alot more closer and it all depends on how Biden's presidency goes. And that depends on the GA races. If Republicans win the GA senate races this means anything Biden would want to to do gets blocked. Which means no stimulus which means the economy stagnant and Republicans will blame Biden. For the 2022 midterms it favors Dems. However as of right now Dems have the smallest House majority since 1942. So what could happen is the GOP wins the House and Dems get a slight majority in the senate. Which means yet again Biden is stymied by a divided legislative branch. And going into 2024 thats when things get dicey.

The GOP is full on the right wing demagoguery. They will not moderate. They have no reason to. They control the courts, majority of state legislatures and they will use gerrymandering to maintain minority rule. So they will double down on racism and white nationalism. One thing to watch is how bad Tom Vilsack fukks up at his job as Agriculture secretary. This has been one of the biggest reasons why the right has been making serious inroads in the rural heartland. They go to the left of Dems when it comes to rural voters hence why th heartland for the past has been moving more into the right. This helps them maintain control of state legislatures which helps them pass voter suppression laws which now they have the courts on their side which means voting rights is all but over. So with all of that it is possible for a republican to win the WH. If the Biden presidency is blocked from doing anything, there is anger and disillusion from the base, the economy continues to suck, sprinkle voter suppression being passed in GA/AZ and Kamala runs in four years it is possible 2024 could be a 2016 redux. Or a 2000 election redux where it comes down to one state. All it has to be is a right wing populist someone like Trump who isn't a politician. Maybe a popular right wing podcaster or popular conservative talk radio host. Or maybe it's a politician but someone who is far right and a favorite of the MAGA base. The GA senate races are very consequential. They will determine the next two years where it goes.
