Facebook is a social media site. The registered users are directly responsible for the offending content. Are we suggesting Facebook is responsible for the content it's users post? That Facebook is responsible for American's lack of critical thinking?

Why is Facebook a monopoly? Because it's the defacto social media site people use?
FB bought IG (the other most popular SM site) and WhatsApp (most used messenger), they would've been allowed to buy SNAP if SNAP said yes, which keeps ad revenue and user data all in their ecosystem which in turn creates a variety of privacy issues since they are the de facto user data company and make all the rules about what to do with it, not to mention all the smaller consumer ad, AI/data mining, ar/vr, and hardware companies that basically have no choice but to get down or lay down for FB - stifles competition

World leaders signaling that Trump needs to go. :camby:

Every major world leader except Putin, Xi, Bolsonaro, Kim Jong-un and AMLO (Mexico's president) have congratulated Biden. The usual suspects.

Even Netanyahu, Orban, Duda, and the Saudis have congratulated Biden :russ:

Facebook is responsible for the content they allow on their website as a private business. Why don’t they allow adult movies? Why don’t they allow snuff films? Why do they work with law enforcement to report potential or past crimes? Because they could be held responsible for they allowed users to post!

So why do they openly allow misinformation tilted toward one group of people to appease them and for what purposes? They take responsibility by blocking, suspending, and banning accounts for other reasons, but somehow just putting a banner that says “This may be misleading” when it comes to blatant lies is enough.

Even though they can be held responsible...... why is that? It’s almost as if the one party won’t hold them accountable as long as they are in power.

Zuckerburg thinks he’ll be seen as liberal enough to receive the Democratic nomination and then he’ll shut off the floodgates and do it himself. Maybe that’s a bit myopic, but what else should I expect?

Look at Twitter. When Trump is no longer President he won’t have protections to violate their Terms of Service, but will Joe Biden have the same leeway? Will Joe Biden utilize if it’s there? What’s to stop him from doing the same thing?

You may not see it this way, but this is the same way the gun manufacturers worked to change gun laws and attempt to remove themselves from liability. Instead of money, it’s misinformation. And as long as the Republicans can consolidate power using misinformation, so can Zuck.
