Outside of HL, which is probably because we follow world events in real time, and The Film Room/Arcadium it feels like there's a massive disconnect on these other boards between consensus poster opinions and reality. This is especially magnified in TLR when a lot of posters are chasing daps/plats so they compete for the edgiest take. Its part of why I don't take this site too seriously. No offense when I say this but I know a lot of posters on here are jaded oldheads with a disconnect from current events. I can't imagine putting stock in the opinions from dudes that think Nas could still do 100K first week sales, amongst other things

I already addressed it my last post, but Facebook isn’t just a news company or social media site. Cambridge Analytica and Peter Thiel proved that farce. They are attempting to use the fact that most Americans can’t think critically and that there are any laws or regulations to govern them to help Republicans obtain and stay in power with Zuckerburg’s ultimate goal of become President himself?

How many studies do we need to have that show that their policies and actions favor faux-conservative, Trumpian, and Republican misinformation? So why not break up a successful American company who is doing what Facebook has done? And will continue to do if you do nothing? What’s your answer on what to do with Facebook?

We can talk about Fox News and talk radio at another time, but what service is Facebook providing besides advertising and shareholder value that needs to be so staunchly defended?

Facebook is a social media site. The registered users are directly responsible for the offending content. Are we suggesting Facebook is responsible for the content it's users post? That Facebook is responsible for American's lack of critical thinking?
