This may sound elitist, but Texas cities are attracting too many educated professionals for the state to remain a Red state for long.

Nah it's not. I mean Texas was all about the Oil and Beef. But unlike West Virginia, smaller state in comparison I know, but Texas has allowed educated folks to introduce new industries. The side effect though is your letting in people with liberal viewpoints. Not to mention that Latinx integration is expanding so much, that in Texas, you need to treat them as a serious threat.

Time flies by fast, but 2000 is 20 years ago. That means kids born in 2000, are surprise surprise, 20 years old and now eligible to vote. If your not prepared for that, and change your party to fit the trend, you find yourself losing the state.
