When was the last time a high turnout favoured Republicans?

As I keep saying, if Trump is suddenly Ronald Reagan, then that's on America, but none of the trends speak to that.

He won by razor thin margins in the states that won him the electoral college, but we have allowed Trump's bluster to make us paranoid.

He said he won 2016 by a landslide. He didn't.

He said he won the popular vote but for voter fraud. He didn't.

He said there were records crowds at his inauguration. They weren't.

He said he has been the best President since Lincoln. Not even close.

We can go on.

Set your own narrative based on the facts and trends and work with it and stop projecting fear.

Beyond America being even more racist that ever thought, which is certainly a possibility, explain to me how a president who barely won in 2016, and who has hardly ever broken 40% in terms of popularity, explain to me how he is going to come through in an election where the turnout looks to be record breaking.

Trump did not win Pennsylvania because a group of Democrats switched to him as you are saying. She actually performed better there than Obama, so there was not a loss of Democrat votes for the Democrat in Pennsylvania

I wouldn't go this far due to the gulf (literally and figuratively) separating the cultures, but I hope that's right. Even the worst of the NZ right wing is nowhere near as stupid and bad as the American Republican Party and they have political and social safeguards to stop the worst of the fukkery. Their parliamentary system for instance has its advantages.

But yeah, it makes you feel when you get a smart, capable leader like Ardern doing so well and then look at this garbage we have here
