One candidate is not only refusing to condemn a conspiracy theory group but is actually promoting them, the other one isn't. One candidate caught corona and is refusing to follow procedures or wear a mask, the other one isn't

Now why would Biden have to go through the same scrutiny or asked same questions when he is following the norms?

Obviously the pandemic halted it a lot, but I wish he would have done more of these things more often earlier in his campaign. He was in his element in this town hall, and he could have immediately killed all talks of "He's sleepy"; "He's hiding in his basement"; "He can't campaign or make a case for himself besides saying, 'I'm not Trump.'"

Then again, if there were no pandemic, the polls would be much tighter than they are now, so it's a double-edged sword.

yeah as a journalist, this is a problem in the news industry. we call it “false balance” or “neutrality bias”

basically when journalists think they have to present different sides as more balanced than actual evidence supports. we should focus more on it because we constantly harp on appearing unbalanced and neutral but we shouldn’t manufacture balance when it isn’t present
