It's not going to be Cotton. They've been preparing for this for months, it's going to be Barrett. They have to choose a woman in hopes it quells some of the criticism coming their way.
She's only 48, she's on the bench for 35+ years

My sentiments as well. There are two scenarios I’m thinking of. Not saying these are the only two but these are what I’m focusing on:i welcome 6-3. it's so much better than 5-4. at 5-4 the dems aren't going to blow up tradition and pack the court because the republicans allowed the winner of the election to choose her replacement. now at 6-3, they will have no choice but to respond and pack the court because republicans couldn't even be decent and wait for her body to get cold and replaced her right before an election. as much as i hate her decision to not retire while obama had a dem senate, she held on just long enough to potentially blow this judicial system up. even the lower courts could get packed along with the supreme court if the republicans behave how i hope they behave.

Drop out Nancyyou know what would be cool is if the democrats werent led by women whose peers are in nursing homes
this next congress better shake itself up. fukk tradition
i only hope that if biden wins and it's 6-3 that the democrats don't compromise the court packing by adding only 2 seats so it's back to a one seat conservative advantage. when the inevitability of court packing is staring the repugs in the face, i could see the argument switching to "oh no, 4 is obscene, why not 2. they are stealing the court."My sentiments as well. There are two scenarios I’m thinking of. Not saying these are the only two but these are what I’m focusing on:
1. Trump nominates a replacement. McConnell holds a vote. Romney/Murkowski/Collins/etc vote the nominee down, this preventing a replacement until after January 20th.
2. Trump nominates a replacement. McConnell holds a vote. Either before the election or during the lame duck, the replacement is confirmed.
Thinking about this logically...if scenario one happens, the end result is Biden picks the replacement and the SC math remains 5-4 in favor of conservatives. However if scenario two happens, Democrats would almost certainly respond by packing the court at which point they could take the majority depending on how many seats are added.
It’s dangerous but...at this point I prefer the second option. Of course that hinges on Biden actually winning. And if Trump creates enough chaos to throw the election to the SC, where he has a 6-3 advantage...bad things could happen.
Like I said before, 20-30 seats should be added to the Supreme Court and end the politics.i only hope that if biden wins and it's 6-3 that the democrats don't compromise the court packing by adding only 2 seats so it's back to a one seat conservative advantage. when the inevitability of court packing is staring the repugs in the face, i could see the argument switching to "oh no, 4 is obscene, why not 2. they are stealing the court."
Beware those Lincoln Republicans who now see their chance for power.
U got faith Dianne Feinstein won't be here much longer so I have hope

Not according to McConnell's calculation which really shows the sheer polarization of our electorate and how shytty the Republican platform is that they feel like they can't and won't attempt to court places with a high number of minority voters.Imagine if they make SCOTUS 20 deep
Plus, is there any way back for the Republicans in the senate once PR and DC become states?
