honestly, white progressives thought they controlled the umbrella tent of the democrat party... but we weren't the ones who had "family who voted for Trump"Facts.
This is politics. There are gray areas everywhere. Being inflexible in the face of obvious externalities is misguided and they manage to exhibit that in every argument.
Bernie Sanders would not beat Donald Trump in an election.Nah, Bernie was leading Trump in head to heads by 4-5 points nationally on average before COVID-19 and losing to Biden.
You really think there'd be a 10 point swing to Trump in the face of a national disaster? Bernie isn't a hated politician by the way, his favorable numbers were the same as Biden's.
I know you dislike Sanders but let's be reality, he'd be beating Trump but not in the way Biden is.
has he even said anything?Trump failing on these fires too
Don't "speak out" at all. No one wants the boat rocked internally right now. This race is as stable as it gets right now.
You have Joe's number. Unless this report was leaked by Joe's team I don't see why it was necessary.
This...
...is flawed. You could easily argue his centrist approach is why he's winning.
Facts.Trump would be up 7 points if Bernie ran against him. He would trout out AOC, Nina Turner and fat Michael Moore spitting out wacky far left policies that would ENSURE another 4 years of Trump.
Ayanna Pressley and Lauren UnderwoodAOC couldn’t even get progressives to turn out for Bernie, so what’s good she gonna do for Biden?
Im so tired of ppl tryna make her “next”.
The country is too big and diverse.Bernie with the deep psychology
Letting those on the fence moderate republicans know it's safe to come over because Joe is a centrist. Time to run up the score on fat boy.
Maybe one day a far leftie can win
These white progressives nutted up and started ranting about identity politics when black people got shyt popping and moved people into the streets calling for all sorts of changes.I don't hate the policies in a vacuum. I don't think many people do. I think some of them are good ideas.
However, I find some of the policies and views espoused by progressives on domestic issues and foreign relations don't align with some of my values. I find some of them to extremely idealist, unrealistic, and sometimes ignorant of how this country operates. It is what it is. I just don't find myself agreeing with progressives enough to call myself a progressive.
On another note, progressives also have a messaging problem. Many of them seem to a have similar idea to the far right in that a revolution will solve all of our problems. I don't agree. The system can work and I think much of the American public thinks similarly.
Warren supports removing the filibuster. Bernie does not."Defund the police" tells you everything you need to know about leftists and their inability to message, defend, or win. They should probably stick to M4A because that's about all they have going for them.
Biden will definitely face off with progressives (not leftists, who won't be seated at the table) if he wins, just as Obama did at times. I'm gonna just hope and believe that his camp isn't stupid enough to think austerity is the answer. They have to be bold, right away. We need a 3T stimulus with direct payments to Americans - not just a one month thing, but multiple months - as well as infrastructure spending and state bailouts. We need a public option added to Obamacare. And we probably need some type of child care policy/help. Those items are probably the most important domestic issues relating to fixing the economy during this pandemic. Other things like a new voting rights act are important too and should be first term priorities, but remember: it's rare for presidents to do a lot of shyt in two years. They typically focus on a couple items.
Ending the filibuster could allow Biden to tackle more than 2-3 issues btw. He has to be bold. Democrats have to literally fix this shyt in 4 years. There can be no half assing, no deficit fukkery, no quarter given to disingenuous republicans. Fix shyt, make shyt better, and then go into 2024 with Harris ready to take over.
For the same reason Obama supported gay marriage in the 90s but "evolved" in 2012 AFTER he got in office. Then why don’t you like progressive policies? Why don’t you like free healthcare? Low cost to free college tuition? Taxing the wealthy and corporations what they owe?
If you are a marginalized person, there is no reason to be against these things unless you are Obama or an Ellen who have won.
fam, his fukking plan was to hold rallies in Kentucky to FORCE McConnell to enact medicare for allPretty much. The goal is to WIN the Presidency first, and then execute your plan. Sanders maybe thought the country was ready for further left ideas, plus while I don't he was racist, his idea of 'All-for-Everyone' sounds a bit tone deaf to a degree... white people are still treated more than minorities, so how could you suddenly convince people was going to get a equal share?
As I said, Bernie is a good guy, with a good heart, but he lacked that understanding you can't preach to everyone with the same message and have the same effect in people's hearts.
what pissed me off so much about this was them saying Warren backed off medicare for all... fam, her plan was literally how it would happen.breh you cant just act like people dont like them, but they're as easy as implementing them as it looks on paper. there ARE drawbacks if you were to implement some of this stuff
"why dont you like free healthcare"? bernie sanders is not some magic genie who can snap his fingers and healthcare becomes better and faster and cheaper and there arent any negatives
My favorite thing to learn about Biden is that he's basically just in the middle of every major wave, so HOPEFULLY he'll be flexible enough to make tangible gains on these policy plansWhen Progressives learn they can't policy wonk their way to the top, they'll start making shyt shake.
In this aspect, Biden probably is one of the best people to watch. Being a politician is just as much as sales as anything else. People have to have confidence in your ideas and confidence in you no matter how shytty those ideas may be.
I have a theory Kamala got saved from possibly losing in her senate reelectionKamala has to know if she allows this to happen she will get washed in 2024, either in the primary or the general.
