I can’t find a specific rule saying a defendant must be the person in the defendant’s chair, but I’m like 99% sure you can’t do something like that unless you get an extremely lenient judge (lenient to the point of not giving a fukk). Judges don’t like dramatics in the courtroom.
There are evidence/trial rules against misleading the jury or doing things to cause “unfair prejudice” so a tactic like that would definitely cross some lines. It’s one thing to attack a witness’s credibility but he went too far with the theatrics, hence why the judge declared a mistrial (which was Saul’s goal; he wasn’t trying to win).
