well, Gus is super careful when he starts business with Walt/Jesse, this on other hand, was extremely reckless. Not only was he risking Nacho's life, but also a war he tries to avoid in the first place. So yeah, I accept it as a cool scene. Also, I know Nacho has some of Lalo's trust, but Lalo's intuition probably would make him put some eyes on Nacho. There was little reason for Nacho risk/reward-wise to go spiderman to retrieve those rocks aside from gaining Lalo's trust, and an alarm should've went off.

This is still 4 years before the first season of "BB". Gus ain't quite yet the Gus we know in "BB". When talking to Schuler in the hotel room he admits they'd lose a war with the cartel. Obviously that's not the case by the time "BB" rolls around. So I chalk it up to him having to be a bit more "hands on" at this point.

Nacho, even before Lalo trusted him, was still 2nd in command after Hector got fukked up. I don't think Lalo would suspect anything, he probably thought Nacho was taking initiative to save their investment. Lalo is perceptive but I don't think anybody would read that situation as "he's trying to earn my trust". Worse case scenario they'd think Nacho is crazy.

Walt presence is foreshadowed here. The hat and glasses and goatee with the blue meth sign.
They are very close now.

I NEVER would have noticed that. Even in this freeze frame it took me a few minutes to figure out what you were even talking about :ohhh:

You have to pretty much assume Gus' people, especially Mike did a check to ensure there wasn't anyone else spying. It's already well been established on how careful and meticulous Gus Fring is. So there's no need for us to actually see his goons do a reconnaissance of the area. That's trusting your audience's intelligence. Also, what risk to Nacho? To Gus, Nacho is expendable. He only needs Nacho to serve his purpose only since Nacho interfered with his original plans to begin with which introduced Lalo onto the scene and now Gus has to deal with the Lalo situation. Also, there's no way Lalo would of get suspicious since he was the one that told Nacho to blow up Gus' food joint.

Lastly, Gus has to use this card because of the last meet with the head of the organization told BOTH Gus and Lalo no more beef between each other. So, Gus is setting up Lalo so the Salamanas would divorce themselves from Lalo. That's the only thing that holding Gus back. He's betting on Lalo to get reckless and make it impossible to do business and make money.

Lydia is less nervous because no one got busted yet. You notice how causal she said guys get killed in prison all day? She has already put the green light on some people before. Also Peter Schuler was a killer back in the day with Gus in Chile. Those guys must in serious work for this guy to kill himself before even being questioned by the police. He rode for Gus till his death.

it’s crazy how fast in BB that is took Lydia to turn into a flat out nervous wreck because she could feel the entire house about to collapse one way or another.

By the time we really encounter her in BB, Gus and Schuler are both gone and she’s moving weight overseas. A far cry from the version of her we see in BCS even tho Gus/Schuler are already putting (and have put) in a ton of work already. Amazing how the shyt they were “dabbling” in during this BCS timeline is light compared to how things got when the lab was basically cooking up meth like hot cakes.

This episode maybe the last time we truly get to see James Morgan McGill. The entire episode up to possible the blowup at Hamlin, was all Jimmy and not Saul was present throughout this episode. And that's why we kept on seeing conflict. Even the suits aren't the usual colorful Saul suits. This was Jimmy the entire time trying to push back his Saul persona. That's why the whole Hamlin thing is significant, because that flipped the switch and we saw Saul in full display as a defense mechanism because he knows that Hamlin pities him and Saul rejects that Hamlin pities him.

If Gus was around now, he'd be extremely prepared for COVID-19.

To add.

Walt would too.

Jesse (depressed version) would catch that shyt in 3 days...from one of them methed out parties at his crib...some of them even aware they have it. Except maybe Skinny Pete:

Pete: "I gotta lay low for a while. I got the bug, yo"

Gus doesnt have the man power to bear the cartel now or in breaking bad....that's not how he won against them.

He won because he used there arrogance against them and outsmarted them with that now famous party trick which he had to poison himself to pull off as well.

Make no mistake this is prime gus

Uh....nah man.

The ep where Mike and Jesse retrieve the stolen dope from the meth heads ("Cornered", season 4, ep 6) Gus and Mike are discussing their next move. Mike offers to get a few goons and wipe out the cartel. Gus says "for now, we keep this war cold" and decides he wants to set a meeting and see if they're willing to negotiate.

So they had the man power, Gus just didn't give the green light. He only decided to poison them after the meeting, when Gaff told them the cartel isn't going to negotiate.
