Why the fukk would Gus have Mike taken all the way down to Mexico if he was dying?

They probably weren't close to the border either, the doctor told Mike that El Paso was a day away by bus.

I think he was trying to show Mike how far he would go to memorialize a person he wants to get revenge for. He built that town in honor of Max, and he was trying to get Mike to understand.

But didn't the doctor say that Mike wouldn't survive if he didn't rest?

So they had a critical condition Mike asleep in a van for 24 hours? It would have been more believable if they showed him as being right over the border at least.

The problem isn't the van ride. The problem is leaving that compound there's a 10+ mile walk to the bus. Which is another 24 hour ride with no medical supervision.

I don't think its literally a 24-hour drive from point A to point B. I think that the whole process of catching a bus in town and taking it from that town to El Paso would take a day.

4. Can't help but think Mike is trying to die but don't want to commit suicide. I'm assuming this is the point in his character arc where Gus gives his life purpose.

Gus did for Mike what Mike goes on to do for Jesse when he went all Colonel Kurtz at the crib in BB. The fact that both Mike and Jesse have a natural talent for carpentry tied it together for me, too.
