I always thought Hamlin was ok. I remember like 2-3 seasons ago I said they picked the whitest, squarest looking guy to play him so he seems shady off GP, but he hasn't actually done anything bad.

That's exactly what it is lol, I could just never put it into words.

Like even as he's sitting there damn near begging him, the whole time I'm thinking, "what is his angle?"

But I think he was being honest. He knows that Chuck was ridiculous and that Jimmy is all those things he complimented him on and said he needed, like his lip was almost quivering and shyt on the rewatch:mjlol:

Not really. He's just kind of a stereotypical clueless rich white guy. Which is a minor character flaw given the universe he exists in.

Something I forgot to mention earlier, I have no idea what Kim's end game is vis-a-vis Mesa Verde. Dude with the beard that called her up last week (her boss, can't remember his name, from the other law firm, not Davis & Main or HHM) knows Saul is her boyfriend. So unless she's at the point where she don't give a fukk about losing that job....I dunno how she's gonna separate herself from what she told Saul to do.

Rich Schweikart is the guy's name you're thinking of

I feel like a lot of people think Kim's exit is gonna be a situation where Jimmy goes too far and she can't reel him in, but I'm thinking it will be the opposite. something akin to half measures vs full measures.

either way, think Kim is in for as bad an end as we've seen so far

knowing this show and BB, she could very well get disbarred or killed. I see those as the only 2 exits for her. But however she leave, she has to be completely gone since she doesn’t exist in the BB universe.

For all we know, she might get her hands on some prototype Heisenberg blue and OD off of that shyt :russ:

I don't think HHM is doing as well as he claims. After a second view, he seemed kind of thirsty for Jimmy to join him. Maybe to keep the "McGill" name intact.

HHM could very well be defunct during the BB era.

Man that amc app sucks.

As for the ep, this shyt was so slow. That's my problem with this show. Its way too slow
Episodes like this are a setup to a payoff. You can't have a payoff in every single episode/scene.

Do you want seasoned, baked chicken or would you rather have a microwaved chicken dinner?

I wonder if any real life lawyers feel like their pro bono work is a penance for the sins they commit on behalf of rich scumbags. It's a fairly worn out trope and I am unsure if it has any basis in reality.

I think his angle is, getting Jimmy on board would kinda give them a stamp that otherwise don't exist any more. One of their founders went nuts and killed himself. Getting another McGill would be a great PR move.

Other than that I think Howard is a solid dude. He wanted to give Jimmy a job in season 1 and Chuck was like "fukk that."

I'm sure it is. I dunno if we'll see some kind of dramatic scene where HHM definitively ends but losing Chuck the way they did and then Jimmy hitting them with the :camby: probably eventually leads to their end.

Hilarious how sleazy Goodman was in front of that district judge, and how he's inching towards someone who is essentially a pariah, and would never shake hands with a federal judge.

What's wild is how delusional Saul is at this point. Dude made himself out to be the Robin Hood of lawyers in that meeting with Hamlin. We know from "Breaking Bad" he goes full dirt bag at some point.

It's pretty spot on at big fancy law firms. A lot of people go to law school with public interest goals and end up in corporate law for the paycheck. They persuade themselves they aren't selling out because they'll do a ton of pro Bono hours. This is particularly true for women.

The reality is a firm would never let an associate spent more than a small portion of their time on pro Bono (even though all firms will say pro Bono "counts" just as much as billable hours). I guess a partner who has a really strong book of business might be able to get away with it but there would be a lot of pressure from other partners to spend more time on billable work and the partner would need reliable associates who can handle those. But the show also depicts that aspect of it when schweigert tells kim she needs to keep the lights on. She only has one client really so it makes sense. There are partners who don't have to do shyt all day except fraternize with clients but those are really rare

No Whammies!!
"Saul" turning down Howard's offer (HHM) is the same as "Heisenberg" turning down Gretchen's charity (Grey Matter).
That's exactly what I was thinking. They're making these characters parallel.

Nah I'm thinking he didn't care if they got the money (well, as much as someone can not care about $700k....but I think he just charged that to the game) he was more concerned with his goons getting caught.

I also think he gave them $700k in one spot (as opposed to the original $500k Krazy-8 mentioned) so the DEA could wrap the situation up faster. As opposed to the three dead drops....because Hank said "one drop left, that's us" and Gomie said "you think he'll do all three?"....meaning, the other two spots had nothing in them.

It's basically the same shyt that happened in "The Wire". If you put money and/or dope on the table....arrest a couple people....take some pics....nobody (the public, law enforcement, politicians) cares if you actually solved any crimes. Which is why Hank was like :jbhmm:

Fred.

Gus was playing the long game for sure. Watching this unfold has been really awesome :wow:Now I’m wondering how many people here are watching Better Call Saul without watching BB.
