WASHINGTON, May 26 - Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today voted against a four-year extension of government surveillance powers.

"I voted against extending the Patriot Act today for the same reason I voted against enacting it in 2001: it gives the government far too much power to spy on innocent United States citizens and provides for very little oversight or disclosure. While we must aggressively pursue international terrorists and all of those who would do us harm, we must do it in a way that protects the Constitution and the civil liberties which make us proud to be Americans."

I personally LOVE Keith Ellison. One of my favorite politicians. But I feel like he would turn it down and tell them to stop fukking around and get a progressive POC

Keith Ellison would be one of the worst choices personally for Bernie. Too many women HATE him or will be trained to hate him. With the weird narrative that Bernie or his supporters are misogynistic (based entirely on him running against women in the campaign), he can't afford to pick someone who has had any sort of scandal involving women, even if it was exposed as ducktails.

It doesn't mean he absolutely has to pick a woman, though it would be great if he did. But if he does pick a man as VP it definitely has to be one with no baggage at all.
