:yeshrug: On the plus side this reveals to people how the Capitalists will never allow any real shifts in the common good for their own material self interests. Which makes the inevitable recession just be that more of a kidney punch to the entire prospect of continued capitalist living.

It does reveal it but I don't have much faith in the Dem partisans and bootlickers on this site to change up

Imagine thinking it’s conspiratorial to say that the guy who owns Amazon -- the corporation that Bernie pressured to pay their workers 15 dollars an hour -- who also owns the WaPo isn't steering his newspaper to be unfavorable towards of Bernie.

this dummy Wesley Lowery is trying to say Bernie is endangering the lives of journos like Trump by pointing out clear corporate influence in the media. Which journalist living in the U.S. has been murdered? Being a journalist working in the U.S. is not dangerous -- especially someone working at the WaPo. Truck drivers and sex workers are jobs that can get you killed

Side note: Bernie was the main politician calling out Saudi Arabia for killing Khashoggi but yeah he's anti press like Trump :francis:

I bet zero journalists have said "Wow! Pete Buttigieg really sounds a lot like Donald Trump when he says prisoners shouldn’t be allowed to vote."

:mjlol: That shyt speaks to the massively inflated sense of self importance that political beat reporters have for themselves. Taibbi talks about this, everybody just wants in on the ground floor of the guy that "makes it" so they can get a book deal and become cause celeb for a year or two and be considered "important" in their field. When in reality literally all they do is fly coach, stay in crappy hotels and spend hours upon hours talking to comms staffers and reciting press releases.

They aren't Chris Hedges or C.J. Chivers or something going into wartorn areas, your fukking job is to be an objective reporter of what you see mixed with humanist flair that Thompson popularized, not to go and be a mouthpiece for your boss.

What a load of shyt, there are actual journo's risking their lives day in day out to do what they do and you have the temerity to say you're the same as them because you make 6 figures to follow fukking John Delaney around.

They all want to be Hunter S Thompson without realizing that nobody is fukking Hunter S Thompson, especially not a bunch of test tube Georgetown grads who have never had an original thought or the ability to parse prose form in their lives.

I mean, there was a mass shooting at the Capital Gazette last year where 5 journalists were murdered, but I agree with your overall point that mainstream journalists tend to have an overinflated ego and sense of self-importance, especially at a time when they've dropped the ball horribly. Lowery is a good dude though, and he's attacked the bias inside of newsrooms more notably than just about any other journalist at his level.

I think there is a reading of Bernie's attack against WaPo that is a legitimate critique of the overall bias and cultural/class homogeneity of the mainstream press that makes it inherently hostile to progressive values and politics, but there's also a reading that Bezos is literally dictating the newsroom coverage to be anti-Bernie because he's pissed that Bernie played a large role in getting Amazon to raise their minimum wage (which actually helped Amazon in the long run btw lol) which borders on conspiratorial and ironically verges on the type of hero-worship that Bernie's campaign is supposed to be against yet seems to permeate his most active support base. Like, there's no reason to rely on the honestly ridiculous idea that Bezos is sending missives from Seattle to take down Bernie when you just need to look at the WaPo masthead and see where these people went to school and what their socio-economic background is.
