So tomorrow

Serbia vs. South Sudan
PR vs. China

technically, Serbia CAN be eliminated (tie breaker is how many points you score if it's a 3 way tie, but it's unlikely. PR would have to win, Serbia would have to lose and PR would have to outscore Serbia by 23.

Greece vs. New Zealand

loser is out of the WC, if New Zealand loses, Australia clinches their Olympic bid

Brazil vs. Cote d'Ivoire

loser is out of the WC

Out of South Sudan, Cape Verde and Cote d'Ivoire, if any one of them advances alone, they secure the Africa bid for the Olympics.

USA might as well give Kessler and the bench some run tomorrow.

That was a nail biter. Had Canada -25

NBA needs to adopt this don't just run out the clock culture

I love it
in fairness, in pool play, the scores kinda matter. The teams who don't advance, the stats carry over to the next pool to determine ranking and where they place.

If you finish outside of the 16 eligible teams who will have to qualify again next year, your Olympic hopes are gone.

I’ve posted about this before but anyone watch Japan hoop is exactly how these dudes play pick up ball. No passing, no D, and jacking up an off balance hero ball ass three 10 seconds into the set :mjlol: :laff: . MFs have their high schoolers playing with a shot clock and FIBA 3 point line and they wonder why they can’t get kids to sign up for basketball.:beli:

The whole continent of Asia has won 1 game so far in this tournament.
Steph Curry single-handedly ruined any progress Asia made in basketball over the last 20 years. He’s in all the commercials and all the kids look up to him probably because he’s not jacked and outlandishly tall like most American basketball players so they can identify with him. But now they all try to hoop like him and the Warriors and it becomes apparent when they get blown off the court because they are jacking 30 foot 3’s barely into the shot clock and not playing defense

this is a joke when you think of it
We need more spots for the olympics, most of these european squads are friggin azz
Yeah it's 1 from Asia, 1 from Africa, 1 from Oceania, 2 from Europe, 2 from Americas, The host country, and then 4 spots from the winners of the last chance tourneys next summer

The South American teams really get fukked by having everything be "The Americas".

Between Canada, the US, and now teams like DR, Bahamas and whoever else can bring in NBA guys, we might not see a south American team in the Olympics for a while

This tournament might land Jordi Fernandez a NBA HC gig....

Im just thinking of how nick nurse would have lost this game. We know he doesn't guard the 3 and latvia would have wide open 3s all game.

Saw a comment about Darko maybe getting some flack if the season starts off like shyt, given that Jordi was an option. Curious to see if that ends up playing out.
