I'm white and from Michigan but live in Washington now.I'm really into these honkies, the city buzzing bout em but it's like their game doesn't travel...
Question, how long you been a hockey head? You from C'bus right, are you a Jackets fan? Does the city, and do black people in general, follow hockey in Ohio?
I can count on one hand how many black people I've seen here publicly supporting the Canes, but also admittedly it ain't like I was looking for black hockey heads here. This a basketball city first and foremost by a mile and the Hornets would be a bigger draw here than in Charlotte, but I'll admit iverall Canes are very popular locally...
He's unreal. If this board followed hockey like basketball, there'd be daily McDavid threads from his stanbase saying he's better than Gretzky like LeBron and MJ.Connor McDavid and his skill is otherworldly. He makes it look too easy at times.

@ confusing me as somebody from ohio.
I only got into hockey on a regular basis 3-4 years ago with the Canucks. I just wanted to follow and learn a new sport. The best way to get an appreciation for it is to actually go to a game. It's the one sport that really benefits from being there in person; just isn't the same on TV.
It's more of a regional game like baseball. Local support will be strong but a lot of those people won't be able to tell you two things about the rest of the teams in the league. There's a lot of talent in the NHL right now but there's only a few guys that really jump off the screen at you.
You can watch almost any random NBA game and somebody will stand out from most of the teams in the league. In the NHL, I would say there are three guys that really stand out: Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers), Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche) and Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs). Most of the other top guys are a little more subtle with their effectiveness.
