especially for a show that used to appeal to all generations, old millennials, gen x and boomers don't give AF about Gen Z social media personalities

so you think people are watching this whole awards because BeautyDoll45607 is attending? I mean, if her followers are interested in her, they're looking at her feed and the pics/vids she posts. Aint no sizable number of viewers watching the award show hoping to see her in the audience
the generation who is really into these social media stars are the generation who consumes the viral clips & performances of the show, not the show entirely. And I can say with certainty the social media influence thing does nothing to activate or interests the 40+ crowd, the crowd that grew up actually caring about award shows and who used to be a large viewer demographic of the show.

J.Cole sells out arena tours every year, headlines major festivals around the world, has 27M monthly listeners, and outsold Drake and Kendrick with his last album....

Future, Drake, and Kendrick should've been performers.
Silk Sonic should've performed. BET Awards would've been the perfect opportunity to mash up Confunkshun for "Love Train".
Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Jazmine Sullivan also should've been performers.
I would've done Neptunes segment to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their dominance where they had 40% of the songs on the radio. That set would've featured Nelly's "Hot In Here", Usher's "U Don't Have To Call", Nore's "Nothin", Clipse's "Grindin", Justin's "Let Me Love You" and closed the set with Snoop's "Beautiful" featuring Charlie Wilson.
Of course, the Diddy tribute.

not gonna have chappelle when they had gay men twerking in the preshow and during the main show, i also don't think dave is host a show entertaining, never really was, but def not at this point in his career
kendrick and paak out touring, don't think drake has shown up there in a decade now, and future is a name but don't have a buzzing single right now, guess he coudl've done wait for you
meg and jazmine were last year, nothing wrong with them again, but i see why they didn't go that route, especially jazmine who been winning awards for that album for two years now
you not gonna get two tributes...you either getting neptunes or diddy...
outside of meg and summer, you aint make space for the 20-somethings, they generally suck but BET awards always been multigenerational
i personally think BET should try a different part of the year, summer time all the big artists are on tours or doing festivals, do a november show when people are slowing down after summer/fall tours and before their New Years push

The Neptunes segment wouldn't have been a tribute. There's several BET Awards where they had a block dedicated to something aside from the usual Lifetime Achievement. In 2004, they had Melle Mel, MC Lyte, and Dougie Fresh performing, but still did the Isleys tribute.
