The GM (Jim Rutherford) has been shytting on Boudreau since the season began. Rutherford said they looked like shyt in the preseason and he didn't know Boudreau had an option in his contract for this year. Been taking potshots at him regularly with firing rumors circulating since October.

In the past 2-3 weeks, the rumors were going around that Tocchet was gonna be the next coach but had to wait a month because TNT has a clause in his contract that he had to give a four week notice. A week ago, Rutherford admitted publicly that he had been speaking with replacement coaches, which is unprecedented. So instead of firing Boudreau, naming an interim and letting Tocchet take over when he was eligible, the team has been stringing Boudreau along for weeks as a dead man walking.

Boudreau and the team have been getting asked about it for weeks. Besides draining the players and coaches, it has incensed the fan base. Just completely unprofessional and lacking any class, integrity or empathy.
Jim Rutherford is a certified hater.

Look at this Sabres goal, looks like a NBA offensive set/motion. I’ve always said basketball and hockey were more similar than we realize:

I only started watching hockey pretty closely five years ago and this is something that's bothered me. Defensemen are way too passive on the offensive end. It's driven me nuts with the Canucks that Quinn Hughes never makes scoring drives to the net even though he's a great puck handler and skater.

Every guy on the ice should be able to get back on defense and handle those responsibilities if the designated defensemen get caught down low.

Canucks were down 1-0 and on their first penalty kill of the evening. Tocchet had OEL and Myers on the first PK unit and they gave up a goal in about five seconds. This was the aftermath:

Vancouver might not be safe to travel to in the near future, @MikelArteta :heh:

Seattle is giving Vancouver the type of ass whooping that has to have Tocchet reflecting on his life choices

Instead of sitting around bulls#itting with Biz and AC, he’s in Seattle getting his head beat in to the white meat.

He looked completely exasperated in the second. I don't know what bullshyt JR sold him on the team but he realizes he's been duped. This team has the worst goaltending in the league and the two worst d-men in the NHL with Myers/OEL.

Beniers didn't return either. Wish someone would have taken out Myers' knees after this. :pacspit:
