All facts.lol, jay & bey would show when they were winning, after Beyonce's first album and DC's final album, she was hit or miss at the BET awards until it made sense to promote herself in a black space
and between the pandemic recently "ending", and this show not having a lot of moments that would bring older stars out - did they even have a gospel segment? and usually, there's a few more legacy acts + the tribute - no reason for them to come.
this is more a testament to a long-standing issue i bring up in various threads from time to time, we don't have the black culture epicenters we had in the late 80's-early 00's. we celebrated black authors, knew the black journalists, had black comedians, black tv and movie stars, and of course music, these were more packed. but between everything being so integrated, us only having crossover stars (many of them on that weird new black shyt) or SM/reality stars and the musicians from the 60's-80's being elderly at this point, we're left with the 20-40 yr old stars and all the low-brow, ratchetness of this generation
Crazy In Love was weird. Cause it was hot. Then just kept getting hotter.Ashanti was bigger than Beyonce until "Crazy In Love" dropped.
