No chance Sanders would pick Yang, it doesn't help him anywhere he needs help. At best he would give Yang a cabinet-level position.

Warren seems like the most obvious choice, but I can see him picking Castro now that he's acquitted himself pretty well in the debates.
Warren as VP would be such a waste :snoop:

If Bernie wins, she should stay in the Senate

Curious for your take on this. Does the fact that there seems to be a fair amount of difference between Warren and Sanders supporters when we look at demos in the polls make them more likely to pair up as Pres/VP or do you think they'd need a more moderate partner to address holes in their support? I feel like I could make a case for the former but that it may just be wishful thinking.
I don't think anyone really knows anything about how VPs get picked. It's so unique to every situation. No one really really knows what they're gonna do.

I was shocked to see so much distance between Sanders supporters and Warren supporters in the polls, but the fact that it's there makes them an ideal group to pair up. I think it works especially well with Bernie at the top of the ticket because that looks more radical, energizing the young people, non-voters, working-class midwesterners, etc. Meanwhile Warren at his side comforts women and establishment types. So it's a pretty good match. (Warren on top is a worse match only because I fear there are some young people/non-voters who might not be as enthusiastic if Sanders isn't the nominee, while the women and establishment are going to be turning out to vote against Trump regardless.)

Bernie's gonna pick a progressive woman of color. He's almost said as much. Warren probably gonna go with a male of color. Castro or Booker seems like a safe pick there.
Bernie has indeed said that, but there aren't any good options. The Squad are still a couple election cycle die-offs away from not being toxic to a national ticket. No one trusts Kamala as a progressive. Stacey Abrams was a thought to me for a second but in reality she's pretty much establishment and has very little national name recognition. Tulsi runs best with alt-right folk who wouldn't press the button on a Sanders ticket in a million years and she feels waaay too much like a person who would be willing to undercut you in order to position herself for her own future run.

I'd love a progressive woman of color alongside Sanders, I just don't know who it would be.

Booker and Castro actually do make more sense for Warren than Sanders does. Perhaps Castro especially, with Booker as AG. The Sanders-Warren pairing probably only really works if Sanders is the nominee.

At her age Warren likely has little time left in the Senate if she stays there. She's not going to be in leadership and she doesn't rally the other Senators. She's already wrote the damn bills, and she could continue writing legislation from the White House. I think she's better off helping Bernie guide policy details from the executive branch so that the White House can take the lead on that front than she is just doing the same thing she's been doing in the Senate for one more term at most.

I’ve long said Warren’s dynamism and scope of thought would require her to be President to maximize her effect, and I’ve never heard of a VP writing legislation. I suppose if she was Shadow President like Cheney to Bernie’s Dubya that’s an option. Just seems like a waste to have someone of her caliber as Veep. I think she could retain more influence as a Ted Kennedy-esque Senator than a Veep.

In the sanders/gabbard hypothetical...are we sure bernie would even run for re-election? He would really be old in 4 years. I dont think tulsi would undercut the commander in chief given her background if she is what she claims to be and she has endorsed him in the past.

I dont think women will be excited about her because i can see them being salty for her not endorsing hillary AND taking down kamala..or that minorities will flock to her en masse...but her policies align well with bernies and she may be able to offset losses with gains with veteran voters. I believe thats around 60 million people

Tier 2: Buttigeg, Booker, Castro

Id keep these 7 around for more debates and start whittling down from there. You've got most POVs represented with those 7 and can kind of cut down on some of the noise.

I mostly agree except I think Yang still deserves a spot.
Also this happening would allow Beto to do the right thing and run for senate in Texas. He's right he CAN turn Texas blue if he does what he did in 2018 again.

Absolutely agree on Beto. Should have been his plan from the start. Guess if you truly think you have a shot you gotta take it, hopefully he realizes what the right move is
