His gimmick is a grift built on populist nonsense.

He wants to fund his UBI while getting rid of other safety nets and people opting out of other benefits.

The immediate problems I see are that 12000 doesn't make up for the loss of other benefits and most of them are based on children. So a parent gets 12000 and then a child is left without what a roof over their head, food, heat, and etc?

Maybe he would be getting pushback if he was polling over the single digits.

man stop with the lies breh damn, safety nets will never be removed in America and yangs policies give Poole a choice. Take your hating ass somewhere else :umad:

Well, what a lot of people don't seem to understand, generally, is under Trump admin, Jeff Sessions as AG drafted a memo to charge EVERY immigrant caught crossing with a crime, either misdemeanor or felony. Previously, under DOJ guidelines, immigrants were only charged with a crime, if they were repeat offenders, or some other extreme circumstance, under the new policy they are all charged, which led to family separations, because obviously children can't go to MCC or ICE adult detention facilities.

In San Diego, it overwhelmed the judges, and the US Attorney's office, and led to a massive overcrowding at the facilities. It was a racially motivated, extremist policy, and so when they say decriminalized, this is what they are referring to, a return to the previous policy, which always had the option to charge a federal crime, but leaves it open for prosecutorial discretion.
You're absolutely right. And it's one of the reason why I eye roll when people act like funneling immigration cases through immigration court instead of the federal court system is advocating for open borders.

Bigots love to hide behind law and order though.

He did, which is how it was handled before Trump decided to use it as a criminal matter.

And a bunch of undocumented people are already your neighbors and are setting up shop, paying taxes, buying cars, etc.

Why not get them on a citizenship path instead of deporting them? It makes America better.

I’ll keep it 100 the best policy would be to give them a path way to citizenship that required a paying of a immigration tax for a few years. Make it a bit punitive too (slightly less so for Children). Making it about money is the American Way.

Or

Here me out, help their home countries become better so the urge to immigrate to the US is lesser.......

I hope some of u dweebs can finally stop the lies that Bernie ain't fast enough off the top to take Trump Ina debate.

Everyone of those candidates would do one debate with Trump and have a nickname stick after. I think Bernie would be the only one with fast enough wit to stop anything from sticking.

IDK about an immigration tax. I don't that is legal and I am not sure what the point is.

100% agree about helping their home countries. That's ultimately how you stop the issue. Its also not in the USA corporate machine's interest to do that.

The point of the immigration tax is to have them cover their share of the benefits they would receive (same benefits full citizens have) while going through the citizenship process. Also it would just add money to federal and local economies ending the bullshyt narrative that Immigrants are “users”.

You want to be American.... fine. Pay us:yeshrug:

Even better let’s turn a specific amount of those funds into aid for their home countries.

I figured this is what you meant.

Undocumented persons already do that. They pay taxes. Its not a federal income tax but they pay shyt like sales taxes, tolls, etc

https://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/110th-congress-2007-2008/reports/12-6-immigration.pdf

Over the past two decades, most efforts to estimate the fiscal impact of immigration in the United States have concluded that, in aggregate and over the long term, tax revenues of all types generated by immigrants—both legal and unauthorized—exceed the cost of the services they use. Generally, such estimates include revenues and spending at the federal, state, and local levels.3 However, many estimates also show that the cost of providing public services to unauthorized immigrants at the state and local levels exceeds what that population pays in state and local taxes

There is no reason to tax them more.

It’s not a policy based on a reason. It’s a policy based on taking away the opposition to a pathway to citizenship (besides racism). Also I am very much aware that undocumented immigrants pay taxes. This policy attacks the bullshyt (but believed) American narrative that people need to earn things. That giving citizenship to people is a gift (ignoring the history of Europeans being gifted citizenship with no push back). A tax End all narratives about Immigrants taking services from Americans, and adds tax money that could be used to provide targeted aid to them or their home countries, or a variety of other programs.
