It's really good but its not gonna be an aoty contender for me.
I like every song, but much like with all LCD albums I find that he tends to make a lot of tracks that feel stationary and lose my attention, despite the excellent grooves
I find them to be at their best when the track is moving forward and the vocal melody keeps me drawn in. Call The Police is my favorite track from the album, although How Do You Sleep is close despite far too long of an intro
Despite its flaws, its a great album. When he sings "my mother was a cripple and my father was a drunk but gentle man" I get that euphoric feeling that I am always seeking, and I can't help but long for an album full of forward-driving cuts like that.
It terms of well produced and written pop albums of 2017, I would still give Lorde's album the advantage. But I would be hard pressed to find another.
