Aight since I made a thread about it and it sunk to the second page with a quickness, if you like jazz/funk type music, do yourself a favor and listen to this album.

I listened to the new Shins album. I think James Mercer forgot how to write a song, its kind of weak

Downloading the new Real Estate and Spoon albums right now. Hope to listen to them soon.

This new Spoon is pure :trash:

The new Real Estate is pretty much what you would expect. A collection of good songs that as a whole isn't really memorable. A solid album.

This Mount Eerie album is the saddest shyt I've heard since Sufjan Stevens last album

It barely qualifies as music though...very little instrumentation, very little attention to melody or songwriting, very little attention to singing on key

Its just him talking bluntly about his wifes death from pancreatic cancer.

Colin Stetson leaked and since I'm a Stan I feel like I need to rant about this album, but I gotta hold off until some interviews drop because this has me scratching my head

One of the best things about his music is that it was all recorded in a single take with just his saxophone and some cleverly placed microphones and mixing, no overdubs. The sounds he was able to generate were mind boggling and powerful

But this new album has me wondering if he is doing overdubs now. There are moments on this shyt that are so complex they sound impossible to create with one man, one instrument, one take

I cant believe some of this shyt I'm hearing

I need to see him talk about this project before I can judge it. If he truly did record this like his last ones, then this mans talent is beyond words

I also get to fulfill my biggest concert dream soon. Seeing him in Milwaukee in July. I bought 4 tickets even though no one else I know listens to him. Because I'm a Stan.

Just found a press release that confirms this album was recorded with no overdubs or loops or anything.

Unreal

This man is not human. This album is an instant 9/10 for me.

I can't believe he has taken the instrument and the art of mixing to even higher heights.

Overall its not quite as emotionally gripping as his defining masterpiece Volume 3, but it is a worthy follow up to his solo catalog

:whew:
