Philly doing what the Lakers should've done last summer.

There's no one to throw the max out this summer, so sign a guy to a heavy 1 year deal that helps you this season instead of losing that flexibility on over the hill veterans (Deng and Mozgov :scust:)

Much better alternative than using up all your cap space on role players making too much money on 4 year contracts.

I like the concept, even if 23 is a little excessive.
I been asking forever why teams don't do that. Especially yougn teams with dead cap. Rather than just signing somebody to sign them to a 4 year deal just overpay some players with huge 1 or 2 year contracts and keep the cap clean from year to year until you do make that big signing. Especially a team like that Lakers.

These GMs love to outsmart and outbid themselves.

This honestly sums up all I need to know. Bless your heart :russ:
So please tell me how JJ redikk is going to lead the sixers to win 40 games and earn his $23 million, I'll wait. Guys watch highlights, play 2k and actually formulate their beliefs to think Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz, Embiid and JJ Redikk are actually going to be a threat to someone. Then, when they lose 50 games, it'll be "wait til next year"

"But but but it's a genius move!" :mjlol:

You do know the 76ers were actually in the playoff hunt until Embiid got hurt? And they have actually added NBA level players to the team since than

even if it doesn't pay off in a playoff berth, even if JJ falls off...its for one year. That 23 million wasn't going to go towards anything else this season. JJ gives the team a shooter to add spacing for Embiid, for Simmons As well as locker room presence for all of the young guys there (if you believe in that)...shyt he might even be able to help fix Simmons' broken ass shot.

what is the downside here?
