Nah bruh, that aint hype talking. Just finished my 3rd listen, but my first with the actually high quality audio final version.

Everything I loved initially is magnified X10. The strings are richer, the bass is deeper, the drums are punchier, the vocals are more heartbreaking.

This is a phenomenal album. No hype required.

Its crazy that it starts out so bleak and intense, and with every single track it just builds and builds.

Hit Black Lake and you're like "aight, here's the high point its all downhill from here":ohlawd:

Then goes Family and that thunder bass hits and you're like :krs: how can this be topped, then them strings come in :krs:

Gotta be downhill after that, right? Then Notget and Atom Smasher bring even more epic sounds into the fold:bryan:

The last 2 tracks, the Bjork produced tracks, both have that rat-a-tat-tat drumming smacking you the face while she wails away like she caught the holy ghost :damn:

Only weak point on the album is History of Touches, but even that song has good lyrics and its only 3 minutes out of the 60 minute run time:smugdraper:

I got 8 albums already this year leaked/released that are worthy of discussion/praise.....this is the best out of the bunch so far. My first 9/10 of 2015. Only had 2 all year last year (D'Angelo and St. Vincent)

what are the other 7?

Hip Hop
Viet Cong
Sleater Kinney
Panda Bear
Father John Misty
Jessica Pratt
Lupe
Joey Badass

All worthy of attention. The rap ones are the weakest IMO, but that is normal for me anymore outside of Kendrick and RTJ.

:salute:
yeah , i checked joeys and lupes LPs. they were ehhh.

Yeah that's about the list I'd say right now.

Haven't gotten a chance to listen to Bjork yet, mainly because I'm too lazy to look for a high quality leak and I'm not gonna buy it.

I gave that Jessica Pratt a shot :snooze:

Natalie Prass album leaked...most recent single below

It doesn't excite me, but with her delicate voice and genre blending instrumentation it has potential to be a very good to great album.

The more and more I listen to Viet Cong
5Jc6Vk2.png

The slow start with "Newspaper Spoons" and "Pointless Experience" :ehh:

"March of Progess" with that switchup half way through
VSELQ.gif

"Bunker Buster" drops and shyt is starting to heat up :ohhh:

Then "Continental Shelf" and "Silhouettes" hits you with that 1-2 punch :damn::damn::feedme:

While you're listening to those you see that 11-min ending track looming :lupe::bryan::whoa::steviej:

"Death" hits you with an entire range of emotions :dahell::damn::lawd::cape::whoo::mjcry:

Guys, this Natalie Prass album is fukking amazing.

This is normally not my sound.....I've never really fully appreciated folk-ish singer songwriters. But this is just so well crafted. Not sure its gonna fly on this forum though :lupe:

Seriously, give it a real chance. I especially love the production. Some genius of restraint was present in that studio, because there are a lot of great ideas packed into this but they are never overdone and balance brilliantly with the airy spaciousness necessary for the vocals

Peepe the bass and subtle drum flourishes in the chorus of this song:

That riff is some all-time classic shyt. Like the type of shyt from the 1970's you've heard so many times as a kid growing up in the 90's in movies and tv that you are left unable to appreciate just how fresh and classic it was when it came out.

Hope someone else likes this album. Don't leave me hangin:sadcam:

EDIT: Entertaining read about the new-ish studio and group of producers that spit out this album

It looks like I have a new label on my radar. Spacebomb. And I gotta keep an eye out for that new Matthew E White record this year

EDIT 2: That first Matthew E White single :banderas:
