The Pitchfork top 100 tracks of the year playlist is on Spotify now too. Just go to their profile on there.

that Top Album list sucked

lol@ Daft Punk in the top 10

Danny Brown? really?

They left Youth Lagoon completely off the list and also didn't give it an honorable mention even though they gave it an 8.7

Also, that Disclosure album is about as unmemorable as albums get and they have acted all year like it is amazing.

This year I realized that in previous years I have relied too much on year end best-of lists to discover music. I used to just wait until the end of the year and then browse Pitchfork, Spin, Drowned In Sound, and a few others and sample shyt that made the lists. My job situation this year allowed me to listen to a lot of music and make my own list as the year went on, and there is so much shyt I was in love with that was nowhere to be found on anyones lists around the interet

--Colin Stetson's album is probably going to find itself amongst my favorite albums of all time. Nowhere to be found anywhere.
--San Fermin's album was what I always wanted Sufjan Steven's music to sound like. Nowhere to be found anywhere.
--Flaming Lips album was definitely polarizing and got very little praise, right up my alley though
--Youth Lagoon's album was highly praised upon release and then forgotten on year end lists
--Sigur Ros album was as good as any in their career and was ignored after release
--Local Natives album was criminally overlooked, it really had some beautiful music

I wouldn't have discovered any of these albums had I waited until end of year lists came out, and they would all make my top 10 of the year

Agreed. While these lists make a decent place to discover some albums you may have missed, they certainly left out quite a few good ones. Toro Y Moi's album was one of my favorites of the year and it's not on this list. I don't recall seeing it on some other lists either. Maybe it's because it dropped so early in the year and got overlooked.

This was a year where there was a glut of releases. It's tough to categorize and list them all, for a few months there you had shyt leaking one after another. You listen to it and move on.

like a reviewer of Beyonce's album(which I havent heard) wrote

"these are the songs I'll be listening to for the next few years"
