Went to the weigh in earlier today

Atmosphere was amazing

A lot of Ukranian fans

Undercard is really bad

Head says AJ, Heart says Wlad

I can relate to the UK poster above who isn't a fan of AJ

He has been forced on the British public as the new Tyson and he hasn't really fought anyone of note (worth PPV billing anyway)

AJ's promoter has screwed over British Boxing fans by feeding us crap for years because there are more sheep prepared to pay for it than real fans who follow the sport. Fury, who fights for a less popular promoter, (along with his homophobic antics) receives considerably less press in the UK even though he has already conquered Wlad (in his back yard, against all odds) already
Gonna say it for the millionth time

Brit checking in, I like AJ. I like him a lot...but as said, he feels incredibly forced. Immense amount of endorsement deals, constant coverage on the mainstream media, endless parading of this horseshyt "nice guy" image (despite him being a former felon who clearly has an edge). I think AJ has the talent but I think the British mentality may hold him back. Here, people try to engineer sportsmen and often opt to put their weight behind the most controllable rather than the best.

Klitschko is looking good, footwork is solid, he's moving great, he has something to prove, he has the ring IQ. So far, AJ seems to be relying on brute force rather than introducing any real ingenuity in his approach. Couple this with the fact that the cerebral battle seems to be half way lost (he, undeniably, looks worried) and I can see Klitschko doing the same shyt his boring ass always does. Zone his fighters out, frustrate them, and then go for the jugular in the latter stages.

This is something I just don't get, been following AJ for a few years and I think it's great how he has progressed. The fact that it keeps being brought up that he has been locked up is kinda fukked up, like him having a cleaner image isn't the fukking point, because he actually understands he has something to lose and that he is an example to younger kids (admirable at his young age). He is all business and I respect that, something that he learned from Wlad which is what he has said multiple times. The vitriol that comes at him is all due to the expectations people have for a young black athlete, and he's carrying himself like a business as he should.

Y'all nikkas disgust me forreal :hhh:

Klitschko Says The Spirit of Steward Will Be With Him at Wembley

By Chris McKenna, courtesy of The Daily Star

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO will hear the voice of his old friend and ally Emanuel Steward when he sits in the corner tonight.

In front of him will be Johnathon Banks giving the advice, but he will also be thinking of what tips Steward would have been offering.

If Klitschko can upset the odds and become a three-time heavyweight world champion by beating IBF title-holder Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium, then it will be in honour of his late trainer.

“If we talk about something spiritualistic, in a certain way he is watching and he is very proud of having this signature fight, as he would have called this,” said Klitschko.

The bond between the pair was so strong that Klitschko wouldn’t allow anyone but Banks to train him following Steward’s death, because the American fighter was also touched by the great coach.

It was Steward, who trained 41 world champions from the famous Kronk Gym in Detroit, who revived the career of ‘Dr Steelhammer’ and made him an immovable object in the heavyweight division.

Before then Klitschko had suffered two upset defeats, to Ross Puritty and Corrie Sanders, while Steward arrived too late in camp to really have an impact before a loss to Lamon Brewster – his last defeat until Tyson Fury outpointed him in Dusseldorf 18 months ago.

During that time Steward had overseen 16 wins, a world title victory and 12 defences of the crown before he died in October 2012.

He was not just the man who sorted out Klitschko’s defence, he made him more aggressive. Most importantly, he became a solid advisor and a friend.

The West Virginia-born coach also helped Klitschko shake off the mental fragility and self-doubt that was holding him back.

The man who had crafted the career of ring legend Thomas Hearns, and helped Lennox Lewis become a heavyweight legend, worked until close to his death.

Then Banks, who was a sparring partner for Klitschko, took over.

“In a certain way Emanuel is an icon, an inspiration from A to Z,” said Klitschko.

“He made me love boxing, he made Johnathon Banks love boxing and being a coach. We were inspired by Emanuel and we are carrying the flag that he passed to us. I cannot fight in the style like I was with Emanuel Steward, and Johnathon Banks cannot be Emanuel Steward.

“I definitely have a different style, as Johnathon has a different style as a coach. But Emanuel gave us foundations and knowledge that we are using over and over again.”

Banks has refuted criticisms of him for Klitschko showing cracks in his defeat by Fury and points to the fact that nobody said anything when he continued his winning streak after Steward’s death.

But while Klitschko and Banks appear to be a partnership, the voice of the old boss will be heard tonight.

The ex-heavyweight champion believes he owed it to his former mentor to take on the challenge of facing the unbeaten star Joshua to become a three-time heavyweight champion.

“I know he is wishing me good luck and even between the rounds I know what he’s going to say,” said Klitschko.

“It’s kind of funny but I know exactly how he would be thinking and what he would say. So far he is very satisfied with my preparation.

“He is looking forward to this signature fight.”

Dan Rafael chat wrap 4/28:

Joshua vs. Klitschko:
- Wilder could fight the winner of tomorrow's fight, but he would need to have one of the other guys not use the rematch clause.
- Picking Wlad, but Joshua winning would not surprise him. Any outcome is possible in this fight.
- The atmosphere is fantastic. Seems to really have taken over the city.
- Last HW fight this big was Lewis-Tyson.
- Wilder vs. Joshua is a big fight in the US, but a monster fight in the UK. Bets Wilder would be willing to fight Joshua in the UK.
- Win or lose expects Wlad to fight again.
- Wlad still gives credit to Steward. He knows that Steward saved his career.
- This could be Wlad's biggest purse (previous was $17 million vs. Povetkin).
- A lot of people didn't like it when Vitaly and Wlad ruled HW. Personally he did.
- Always felt Vitaly would beat Wlad (big brother-little brother theory).
- Meaner fighter: Vitaly or Wlad? Vitaly.
- Wlad's chin has looked better because he does a better job protecting it and also fights as though he is scared to get hit.
- Believes if Wlad was American he would be ranked higher all time. He has him in the 9-10 range.
- Prefer the winner fights Wilder or Fury? Wilder and it isn't even close.
- Lennox Lewis was not in shape at all for his fight vs. Vitaly.
- Ortiz is supposed to be the WBA mandatory and has an IBF mandatory. He could get an exception to fight Wilder, a fight they both say they want.
- Wlad has no interest in politics like Vitaly.
