Its all gucci just voicing my opinion. I love to debate shyt so its kind of a nervous tick to just go off on tangents when I think I'm right lol. I will say that Shiina Ringo being typical jpop is like the craziest shyt I ever hear tho. Shes definitely more jazz/lounge and noise rock influenced. I honestly have her in my top ten all time for all her material so I am a bit biased I must admit. This is typical Jpop (song is still pretty gorgeous imo tho)

I know dismissing an album are three songs is not really honest and I rarely do it but I could tell the feel of the album would stay largely the same. I got tricked into trying to listen through a whole album of filth too many times (neutral milk hotel :sadcam:) and am pretty good at discerning the quality of music in the first few tracks. There has been few albums where I did not like the first half at all but loved the second and I doubted Fiona was gonna be one of them.

Also greatest song that no one seems to no about

Listening to that Fiona Apple right now, enjoying it quite a bit but it isn't really the type of music I tend to listen to so I'm not sure if I'm gonna cop it or not.

Hmm...how do I explain this. I didn't mean that it was totally pop or anything. It's just that I hear melodies in her music (or at least the songs that you posted) that I hear in a lot of non-metal J-Rock. Rhythmic, bright, driving and the like. It's good stuff. She can certainly play, and I do hear some of that jazz-esque virtuosity in her music, but it's just something that I'm not totally interested in at the moment.

The noise rock thing, I might not be able to rock with you on, though. You have any songs of hers that might be more noise influenced? Because when I think of Japanoise, I'm thinking stuff like this:

Or this:

(Yes, those pictures are of actual Hanatarash gigs. Boredoms was actually multiple steps down in insanity from this)

Or, to be more in the realm of rock music, this:

(See what I mean?)

And I see where you're coming from with that (The Elephant 6 Collective is kind of hit or miss for me too). I guess I'm just coming from a critic's point of view when I write on "honesty". If you're just casually listening, then it's more understandable (I wouldn't be trying to listen to Superchunk's discography if I weren't going to review their new single. Nice in short bursts, monotonous for 35+ minutes). But since I barely do that nowadays, I don't really get that perspective all the time. But I do understand it.

And I'm gonna need to check out more of Kashiwa Daisuke. It's pretty good :obama:.

Jap noise is pretty intense I was more thinking she was in tune with daydream nation era sonic youth type shyt with a poppier aesthetic.

Shiina Ringo - Gips

It could be a mirage tho since she does have a shytload of things going on in all her songs. I love her tho

what if asobi seksu was in one room and beach house's 'norway' was playing on vinyl in another and both rooms were on fire, which would you save

I just realized, with all of this talk about Asobi Seksu (Quite nice live...), nobody's dropped the new A Place To Bury Strangers album (unless, of course, somebody dropped it).

It's in the profile.
