Just watched the age of samurai on Netflix. These samurai were ruthless basically Vikings with better armor and weapons.
They were really committing seppeku because they’re honor was tainted

Yeah, modern versions of samurai are a bit romanticized. If anything they were more like European knights in “Game of Thrones”. Burning, murdering innocents and sacking villages were common. I even heard if you didnt bow to a samurai as he walked past, he could execute you for showing dishonor.
Codes of Chivalry and Bushido seem to only apply to other knights/samurai or those of higher rank.
