Cheers was a personal classic to me!
:banderas:

I'm biased being from Detroit but same.

I try to tell people this was low-key the quintessential Shady/Aftermath album

Features from
Em
Dre
50
Banks
Nate Dogg
Busta Rhymes
shyt even D12

As many Dre beats as GRODT if I'm not mistaken

Edit: even adlibs from Yay

Do you guys feel like there's some similarities between Obie Trice's Cheers and Freeway's Philadelphia Freeway.

Shady/Aftermath/Interscope and Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam were 2 of the biggest labels at the time and both artist released good albums that are underrated.
  • Both were released in 2003
  • IMO two underrated albums
  • Both peaked at 5 on the US Billboards
  • Both guys were at best #4 in order on their labels and released great albums.
  • What We Do & We All Die One Day are the best posse cuts from both labels
I was listening to Freeway's album for another thread I'm going to make and thought of this album and wen:ohhh:

People near me didn't play the Obie album though because of the single. People played the Freeway album a lot because I live near Philadelphia. I still remember the first time I heard Philadelphia Freeway:wow: and I haven't listened to it in a long time like Cheers. I did listen to Free's last album when it came out.

Yea it’s a damn shame how many slept on that album, even I started to :mjtf:

That album was fire, Got Some Teeth was the worst song on there, just about anything else woulda made a better single :ehh:

Banks verse was dope but 50 verse was a verse of the year candidate for me just off the strength of

“I watch gangsta flicks and root for the bad guy
Then turn it off before it end because the bad guy die
You tryna buy guns, I’m the guy to look to
So what they got bodies on em, they still look new”
