Why do people keep thinking Obama is the one thinking up all these plans and executing them. He's not all he does is say yes or no, he doesnt create shyt. All he does it get told by the cabinet what they wanna do and if he denies it they beat him over the head and nag him with it until he gets annoyed and say go ahead do it. Presidents dont do as much planning and brainstorming ads you think. They only go grey having to be constantly bombarded with negativity and taking heavy blame when he OKs some fukked up plan the cabinet convinced him to go along with.

Obama was a fukking professor of constitutional law. Anyone who thought this bill was gonna be ruled unconstitutional were naive.

Democrats and Republicans are the same thing  this is why every presidential election since 1800's.... a Democrat or Republican has been elected. People think these guys have beef but guess what....they are having congressional picnics, playing in Golf tournaments together and some are great friends.

Their friendships shouldn't be considered simple evidence of a conspiracy or their ultimate sameness. Sometimes it works that way, especially when they both have their hands in the same money pots, but at other times, it helps keep the ridiculous partisan, party-over-all madness from being even worse than it is (hard to imagine, I know.) The closeness of congress was originally meant to keep the parties from getting stuck in opposition just for the sake of opposition and for the party politicians' own interests.

Had Obama been the social liberal people wanted he would've been impeached or close to it. We have to just realize that America is an extremely divided country and politically has been right of the center for the past 60-70 years. Any president we elect no matter democrat or republican will ultimately be a centrist or a moderate. Besides, if you want to be objective, Obama has been a more liberal president than either Bush 1 and II or Clinton. Despite his concessions to the right, he has passed more Democratic based bills than Clinton who was hamstrung by a Republican House and Senate. Just the fact that his Health Care act (however imperfect) is still standing is quite the achievement.

Just the fact that you think Obama's health insurance act is a Democratic based bill shows how fukked the image of the current Democratic Party has become.
This is Bob Dole's bill, chief, not the Dems.
And Obama has always been a Republican in the vein of Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins only he enjoys playing at being a hawk more than those two.

If you want to be technical about it, it's a moderate bill at worst. I remember Bob Dole talking about expanding medicare, but it was not a popular idea amongst the more conservative members of his group. The only thing the Bill really needs is a public option and this laid the groundwork. No one is deluded enough to mistake Obama for a true liberal but, this isn't close to a Repub bill.

I never understood why folks scream "Republican Bill", when MOST republicans would never heavily regulate any industry or expand Medicaid or put away money to build community clinics in low income neighborhoods like this law does. This is a perfect example of a law "in the middle" of two ideologies.

from reading autobiographies of Presidential staff aids, this is how JFK, LBJ, and Reagan (heavily). It makes sense why they would do so. You really think a Community Organizer is personally tell the military what and how to do this jobs? Or the EPA? Presidents delegate power and agree/reject what their Cabinet wants to do.
