There's a world outside of me. The unemployment rate in RI is between 10 to 11%. In the capital city: the per capita income is about 19,500 dollars and the median household income is 35,000. The sales tax is 7% (which is a greeeeeat look when most people don't have money). 25% of households make less than 15,000 dollars year.

Me "making" it doesn't mean they all made it no matter how much they want to live through me vicariously. That 2 minutes of chatting with a kid from around the way who made something of himself doesn't account for the rest of the day. You know better.

There are millions of factors that play into this. Bill Clinton didn't run up big deficits but he had a Republican Congress keeping him in check. Obama of course is running up the biggest deficits in US history.

Now at the state level it isn't even close. Liberal states like California, Illinois, New York, etc have by far the biggest debt per capita compared to the rest of the country. You also have major liberal cities like Detroit facing bankruptcy.
