His political aspirations are the least of his concerns. Yeah that’s what I mentioned in my follow up post of why he wouldn’t do it even if he wanted to. His immediate family would be protected, but everyone else would have to fend on their own. The situation last week has him too spooked to do so more than likely.
He’s better off letting him get impeached and let other party members go along and deal with the ire of the MAGAs.

He would have to be impeached and convicted by the Senate to lose the financial benefits. Impeachment alone wouldn’t be enough and he’d still get them even if he resigns under the “Former Presidents Act.”
He’d still get the security detail for life though regardless and I kind of get why seeing as he essentially knows confidential information from his time in Presidency. They can in fact ban him from running in 2024 if he’s impeached and convicted.

Edit: I would assume that Melania would lose her security detail rights in the event of a divorce since it doesn’t carry over to former spouses.
