Pathetic.

Also, excluding 2009, if you go all the way back to 2002:

2002 - Lost ALDS
2003 - Lost WS (shouldn't have lost to the Marlins)
2004 - Lost ALCS (infamous Red Sox comeback from being down 0-3)
2005 - Lost ALDS
2006 - Lost ALDS
2007 - Lost ALDS
2008 - Didn't make the playoffs

In my opinion, Stanton and Gleyber need to be moved.

Stanton is clearly beginning to decline. Gleyber has now proved that he will never live up to the potential of his rookie season.

While I think Donaldson has fantastic value defensively, at nearly 37 years old it is unlikely he bounces back offensively. This is a guy who went from a .827 OPS with Minnesota in 2021 to a .682 OPS with the Yankees in 2022. He's not hitting the ball hard and often looks lost at the plate. I'm afraid the Yankees may be stuck with him for 2023 because of his contract.

While many Yankees fans feel throwing the bag at Judge is a mistake, I think they pretty much have to. There just isn't enough offense on the roster to justify NOT having him.

If it's true that Oswald Peraza is the Yankees future shortstop (and thus forces SS prospect Anthony Volpe to 2B) then maybe the path forward is to cut ties with Donaldson at 3rd and see if Carlos Correa would consider moving over there for a ton of money. I don't know how the Yankees would even trade Donaldson...the market for him is practically zero. But I'm just tossing ideas out here.

Of course it's possible the Yankees go after Correa to play SS anyway since he's a proven major leaguer. And Peraza gets the first shot to take over 2B or 3B depending on which veteran sucks more.

Donaldson is essentially Matt Chapman at this point, great defensively but not much offensively. Maybe packaging him with Gleyber in a trade can get him outta here but even if that works, more than likely the Yankees are still gonna have to eat most of the money he's owed next season. Unless they find a dummy to take on all of it. Volpe should get an opportunity to make the team next year, especially if Gleyber is traded.
